Maybe skin (I have oily skin with one of the blessings mean my wrinkles are staying away in the most part).

I don't get that many compliments either- I think it might be a NZ thing, we are pretty low key and would hate anyone to think too highly of themselves. It is one of the frustrating things about our culture. I definitely notice Americans are much quicker to compliment.

It would be really strange if YLF ladies were not getting compliments left, right and center: definitely at least something is right in our universe!
I don't think I get many compliments for my particular features (definitely not for my hair!) aside maybe from my height (but I never sure if this is really a compliment, ha-ha ). I think when I get compliments they are more about overall appearance than about specifics I think.
As for the clothes I think my purple London Fog trench, SE python booties and Danier satchels and jackets are top winners.
Speaking of compliments: the best one I got was at the friend's wedding when I was about 25. There were a couple of little girls on that wedding and they did their own beauty "contest" among the female guests and I was their top pick - still tickles my toes when I remember that

Women sometimes comment on my hair and ask for my hairdresser. Men comment on my hat. I know I keep saying this but it is truly the weirdest thing.

I seldom get compliments on my physical characteristics, which is just fine with me. I think there are very few situations in which it is appropriate for anyone but a real intimate to comment on another person's body, either positively or negatively. Maybe that makes me a curmudgeon, but that's how I feel. (When I first lost a lot of weight a few years ago it inspired a whole lot of comment and although it was exciting at the time it was also kind of unnerving and I am very happy it's died down.)

As for my clothing, I get a lot of compliments on my shoes, which is fine. I do wear a lot of statement-y shoes and I don't mind the comments. Beyond that it's usually more general, along the lines of "I like your outfit."

Fun thread!

When I was younger I used to get tons of comments about my hair. It was a gorgeous, completely, natural buttery blonde. Sometime in my early to mid thirties it got darker, less butter more gold. I meet my current stylist a few years ago. She has done wonders and I do get comments on the color & cut frequently. Not really my doing and I make it extra hard for her by swimming regularly. For clothes I have a few pairs of shoes that get comments but mostly these odd overall appearnce comments. Hmmm, maybe Suz is onto something about dressing in ALL basics and no standout pieces.

I nodded in agreement with every post here! Una .. Your hair does look terrific! It is in fact one of my inspiration pictures for my next haircut

Bodily features wise .... My hair gets the most compliments when long. Even from random strangers in the lift! I have my genes to thank for that! Clothing wise......you wouldn't believe .... But maxi dresses get me the most amount of compliments IRL! I still wear them (pre YLF dresses) for park picnics or beach parties. I feel a bit overly girly ... But being a mood dresser helps, I go full on boho :). My shoes are usually complimented too.

As many others have said, for me it is definitely my hair. When I posted my first WIW here, I had so many comments on my hair that I went ahead and made the next post just about the hair. When we are in public, people comment so often that my husband sort winks at me or rolls his eyes and says something like "it's happening again". I have had a number of hilariously strange conversations with men about it. I had a good natured argument with one man who was trying to convince me that I was actually a hair stylist because I had "hairdresser hair". It took an inordinate amount of time to convince him that this was because I have a pretty great hair dresser. Other than my hair, it is often my shoes that people notice, although my friends and colleagues tend to comment on the whole style package. My favorite recent comments have been at work - someone said that I would never agree to having an "ugly holiday sweater party" (they were right) and one of the adorable younger women said "since the weather was cold today, we couldn't wait till you got here to see what your winter clothes look like!" Those types of comments were fewer and farther between pre YLF.

For me personally, it's skin, hair, eyes and hands. Clothing-wise I tend to get more generalised comments about whole outfits rather than individual pieces.

My legs and hair.

My footwear and glasses.

what a fab post, and so interesting to read the responses.

i got a lot of complements on my shoes, which is fitting, as often use them as the statement piece of my outfits. lately i've been getting more general complements about my over all style, but the interesting thing is they are usually given on days that I've dressed on the more casual side of business casual, so not sure if my style is actually getting better, or if it's just more relatable to the 20somethings i work with…..or as i type this, it makes me wonder if maybe being more relatable is more stylish.

When I have dressed more classically, I get compliments on my appearance overall. For example, at my nephew's rehearsal and wedding, several family members and people I haven't seen said something. I tend to think it is because they've mostly seen me in grunt clothes.

More recently, I've been getting compliments on particular items. My wedding ring, my coats, my shoes. Once in a while, my waves/curls will garner attention, but only if they do something spectacular (not often now, since I cut it shorter. Hmm.)

My hair. My lipstick. Any garment that has bright, clear colors.

Friends comment that they like how my hair is greying. Besides that, I not infrequently receive compliments on individual items-- jeans, sweater, coat--and I'm hearing more and more "you look well put together" or words to that effect. Thanks, YLF, for the last two compliment categories!

I get the most compliments on my hair, specs, and outfits when they are rather bodycon. I'm often told that I look great in jeans. Oh, and scarves.

My glasses, for sure, usually from people much younger than I. My hair, although I want to ask specifically what it is about my hair they like, is it the grey, or the wildness? A large portion of the compliments I get fall into the "I love your whole look" category, this is thanks to YLF of course. For clothing, I guess the Celine gets the most compliments, usually in the form of, "cute jacket"!

Coming back to say - thanks Una & Suz - you didn't need to toss me a sympathy compliment (but how nice of you!!!!). I know for a fact that I don't live in a very complimentary household. I was probably feeling bitter yesterday since I had my hair cut and (as usual) not a single soul made a comment. I am coming back to say I did get a compliment (by my hairdresser) on my grey wool coat yesterday, so that was nice. I bought it two years ago but for some reason didn't wear it all that much last year. This year I'm wearing it with the collar way up my neck, and it feels great (and maybe looks great too - to one or two people ).

And I agree, Una, that you have fab fab hair. But I'd be complimenting you daily on your footwear too

I'm with jackie in that I don't really think I get that many compliments on my appearance on a regular basis. I live in a rural area where there are mostly seniors and they are more likely to compliment things aside from appearance like "you are so good at..." I don't really have a lot of women friends and I think it is really considered a bit unconventional for a man to give a compliment to a woman who is obviously married.

I do get random compliments on clothing items - often jewelry but sometimes my "outfit" - mostly by younger women when I'm out and about.

On the other hand....

I never get compliments on my hair! Hmmm...maybe that's telling me something.

I got a compliment on my hair from my aunt, and he SO likes it.
I often get compliments from hairdressers and medical staff on my skin or eyebrows.
The UPS lady and several people I work with only occasionally have complimented my glasses.
I get compliments on my boots/shoes.
I get quite a few compliments from men on my overall appearance, including my SO's co-workers.

Jackie, I also think that you are quite beautiful with your soft features. You have a fabulous kitchen and I quite like most of your clothing-- I love your MOTG style.

I definitely get the most compliments on my smile. I can see why that is, it definitely changes my whole face. That said, I've also been told on several occasions that I should smile more often and that I should make an effort to look happier and I hate that. I will smile when I feel like it, thanks for nothing.

I've received the most compliments on a brightly printed faux-wrap dress, my cobalt trenchcoat, and my tall Born boots. I live in a part of the U.S. where most people don't wear bright colors, so I think they tend to see them as striking.

I get compliments on my style choices, my fashion sense. But it occurs to me that those would be the only ones I'd remember, because they're the only ones I'm interested in.

I get a couple compliments (on my overall look) each year since discovering YLF, which never happened before.

I usually get compliments on my hair and shoes, and sometimes my skin, and some of my silver jewelry.

Boots/booties usually. I get compliments on my skin a lot and less often hair. My wedding/engagement rings get compliments too. Also I wear a chain with a charm of my dog - that's the list that gets regular compliments.

I wore my red peacoat to the mall last weekend and three people commented on it in the span of a couple hours. One woman exclaimed that red is my colour.

Jewelry.....I buy modern and unique pieces on Etsy. I have a ring that always gets comments.

In terms of appearance.....my age and my skin. I've always looked younger than my age and I don't look 51. I think I'm genetically blessed that way.

I was just thinking that perhaps the reason I get so many compliments on my jewelry is because I like collecting pieces that are a little different than ordinary to accessorize my essentially Classic wardrobe.

I'm excited about not having to wear glasses for anything other than closeup reading.

For my body, I tend to get compliments about my eyes more than anything else. My hair also gets a good number of compliments.

I do get compliments on clothes or outfits fairly often (mostly from other stylish women). But I have one pair of shoes (see Find below) that get complimented all the time. It's funny how often they are complimented. And they are Mary Janes so not the most popular type of shoe.
