What do you think about this skirt?

I just discovered this skirt, it's from the new Esprit collection. From what I see in the picture it looks like it could be the perfect length and cut for me, another great basic skirt for fall/winter. But I'm not at all sure about the stripes and the skirt is not cheap.

For me it's a Yay with this comments:

It is in the same style as your other skirts(that I remember). Would you like to try a different silhouette or do you find that this fills a hole in your fall wardrobe?

Yes, it's the same style as my other skirts and it doesn't fill a hole in that sense. But I wear my other black skirt that's similar to death, I practically launder it and throw it on again. I wear skirts most of the time and I like myself best in this silhouette.

Edit: Another skirt for fall is on my list, but not one of the things I need most.

I love it. And I love the side detailing, reminds me of the stitching on the skirt I asked for opinions about here yesterday. It looks very flattering.

Knowing Esprit, it's probably excellent quality and will be a skirt you'll be going back to for many years, but if the budget is a concern, then I'd reconsider if you hope to find something slightly different.

Also, I think the stripes (or it may be just how the fabric is woven) is actually what makes the skirt more interesting than if it was plain.

ETA: Opps, I just realized it's not side seams, just a shadow Still, that does not make the skirt any less pretty, I think it's great.

Yes, Esprit is normally great quality. I have some Esprit pieces I had for some time and they are in an excellent condition. The price isn't really a problem, I'm going to spend August and September with my parents and won't have my normal living expenses, so I could afford the skirt. But it's not so cheap that I can buy it if it's not 100% right, because with all the things I have on my list for fall, that would probably be the last skirt I buy (if I find a dress I like). You're right, the stripes give some interest. I think I'm going to look for it tomorrow and try it on IRL.

I like this skirt. If you use pieces like this as a workhorse and don't have many then your wise to get another. I don't mind the stripes either and as Ornella said they add interest. If you do decide to get it remember to post a pic so we can see it on you : )

I think the stripes are subtle enough to add a little texture to an outfit without screaming "stripes!" As someone who is very cautious of stripes on my lower half, I understand your hesitation. But I love this skirt -- try it!

I was in the store this afternoon and they didn't have the new collection yet. The SA said the new things would probably come in sometime during the next week, I will try it again then.
