I found a really cool cover of "This is Halloween" on YouTube last week. It made me excited for fall and for Halloween - which normally doesn't happen, because I am all about summertime and sunlight and warm weather.

It occurred to me that their outfits are really just fancier versions of everyday pieces, put together to create a character idea.

A few years ago, my friends and I had a Disney Style Challenge group on FB, where every week, we picked a Disney-related category, and the idea was to wear an everyday outfit that captured the idea or essence of the theme. We had a lot of fun with it, for a couple of months.

I think most of us here have wardrobe orphans, or outlier clothing/shoes/accessories, that we love, but scratch our heads about styling. I thought it might be fun to have an October challenge, where we try to create a 'costume' essence, out of what we have in our closets.

Every week could be a different theme, like one week is "Hollywood", where you pick your favorite character, from your favorite film, from any era, and create an outfit that you can wear out and about in your daily life, all day long. Other themes could be Literature, Fairytale, Theatre, Music, or if you y'all have ideas, I would love to hear them!
