Trick or treat!

My son's school doesn't permit Halloween costumes, but a little nod to the day can't be denied. I came up with the idea of a green shirt and snacks sticking out of his backpack as a "Shaggy" costume. Unfortunately, he doesn't like the shirt (because of the neckline; he's got a point).

Can you help us come up with other costume ideas that rely on fairly common clothing items and accessories/props?

Dark glasses frames and a white Oxford could be Clark Kent; a Superman T-shirt underneath might get him sent to the principal's office. He thinks the shirt is too stiff, so that idea's out, even without Superman.

Orange shorts and a pink shirt could be Dora the Explorer, but he doesn't own either piece of that outfit (and wouldn't wear them if he did).

Red shoes and gingham anything = Dorothy, but again, he's not into gender-bending right now (despite a very gender neutral childhood, dolls and all).

What other creative, very simple and subtle costumes are there? If they have puns in them, even better!
