What are you thinking of for Fall ?

I really don't need or want a lot for Fall. I am rather happy with the current state of my wardrobe. I do, however, want to get away from wearing jeans so often. I went from rarely wearing jeans to wearing them a whole lot last Winter. I also want one pair of wool pants. Just because of warmth. I have missed not having any the last couple of years.

So I am going to get the following :

Wool crops in the brown check ( I always had a brown check pair of pants in my wardrobe before I got sick. I miss them. LOL...I sound lovesick...) I love the polka dots too, but that may just be overkill for me. I don't think I would get that much use of them.

"Harem-y" pants. I love these and they are just wild for my style. Like really wild. Thank you to all the ladies who helped me decide. After today, I have decided that my style is not just uber conservative, but sedated ! Haha.

Last year, I started wearing "shooties" and ankle boots more and I decided that I really like that. So I think that these two pairs of pants would go well with my boots.

What about you ? With NAS going on, what are your thoughts/plans for Fall ? Without NAS, what are you thinking ? Of course, the largest chunk of my Fall/Winter wardrobe budget will be , henceforth, for a ticket to OC for Shoptoberfest...and not for clothing.

I think that my biggest temptation this year is going to be the beautiful jewel tone colors that I see everywhere.

I have ordered up a storm at my first NAS. Most I won't keep, but it has been great to have the opportunity to order and try on (coming this weekend! Whee!)

I am focusing on new boots (a need), new knitwear (a strong desire due to lifestyle and climate), and jackets, if I can find some I like and that fit well.

But as much as I have ordered, I'm planning only to keep 12s out of 10s. I just don't want stuff that isn't wonderful. And since I have enough clothes to get by (except for proper weather proof boots) I can afford to be quite fussy, for what might be the first time ever.

Last year I felt like I was starting from scratch with my wardrobe, but this year I feel like fine tuning. My last couple purchases were upgrades (except for the Spiegel jacket)
My wish list for fall is
Miss Sixty military wool jacket in navy or one like it.

Suz, isn't it wonderful to be able to be "picky" ? That, in and of itself, is such a luxury.

Shedev, that sounds great. If you don't mind my asking, why did you feel that you were starting from scratch last year ? Was it your taste changing ? A job ? I am just curious. You did remind me that I need some long sleeve Ts this year. I have found my T shirt holy grail in the Caslon at Nordstrom. The ruched ones.

I have a couple of tanks ( black and white ) and 4 short sleeve. I hope that they come in long sleeve that is ruched. They are lightweight and really hide my belly and "adjust" well to my crazy fluctuations. And they are just pretty.

It was partly things that were dated but my shoulder size changed due to working out and a lot didn't fit. It took the entire season but I found some nice things that fit great.

For Fall:

1. black booties--DONE.
2. black cardi or black knit jacket with some presence (not a throwaway cardi)
3. If I find nice ones, silk or silky blouses/shirts in cobalt, aubergine, or deep maroon.
4. Dressy black belt--mine wore strangely and is embarrassing.
5. Jeans. Not sure what kind. My favorites wore out and my other pair feels dowdy.

BTW I adore the brown check crops!!!!

I love the bistro crops. They look very modern and hip. I could definitely see them with oxfords and boots. Kind of preppy hipster! You already know that I love the "edgy" harem-ish pants--lol! You have to let us know how they work out!

I've been contemplating fall myself. I haven't made any NAS purchases but hope to remedy that after I see the Doc on Wednesday. I'm wondering if he will let me go back into normal shoes. If so, I will likely pick up a pair of cognac/brown boots since I can't get any of my unzippered boots on my injured leg yet.( That puts a serious dent in my low heeled boot options.) I'm good in terms of jeans, knit wear and I have a leather jacket on the way I'm looking forward to fall and being able to hide my gimpy leg for awhile! Ask me again how I feel when I'm cold and wet!

ETA: I'm kind of over skinnies for now too. All I want to wear is BF style/baggy britches. Fall for me is going to be BF jeans and boots!

My preliminary plan for fall includes:

dresses and cardigans - I already have the fabrics and yarns for them so now I just have to get busy sewing and knitting;
black tights to wear with the dresses - need to buy;
a single-breasted belted knee-length coat, possibly with a hood - fabric ordered;
long wool pants and pullover sweaters - have fabric, need to order yarn.

I'm good on shoes and accessories. I think, anyway.

new glasses and maybe red hair. not sure about the hair, kind of like the blond thing i have going on now, but it maybe time for a change.
otherwise, some non black trousers for work. replacements for some out of date cardigans. maybe some red shoes, i have a pair that i think may have pasted their prime.

I am not 100% sure but I know I need to be very careful of buying for the imaginary life and copying all the wonderful things that get posted here. I do want a pair of refined combat style boots and hoping for something in grey. Also I purged a great number of sweaters last year so I may get 1-2 new ones. Before I make a list I will revisit the summer wardrobe and purge. Then will have a look to see what survived last winters purge and go from there.

I like your goal of wearing less jeans. I might use that one, too. I'm trying to keep my look casual while not wearing so many jeans. My other goal is to stop getting jackets that I don't wear!

I like your new additions! Hooray for stretching our boundaries. I am wondering if I can justify a trip to CA and I could join Shoptoberfest too. But then, there's also a photo trip to Cuba I'd love to do, etc. etc.

For fall and winter, I am thinking mostly of wearing the heck out of the fab items I have, and fine-tuning my closet a bit. There are some things that went largely unworn last year that I need to evaluate, but I think most of what I have and wear now will work nicely and still be current for the coming cooler months.

I got that zip-shoulder Amber Sun sweater at NAS, and I think that rounds out my sweater collection nicely. I also ordered a very cool Aiko top that Angie pinned, so we'll see if that works out to add a little freshness to my long-sleeve tops.

I have plenty of jeans so I have little desire to add more, and I have trousers that are rarely worn that I need to integrate better into my casual life. I have plenty of skirts as well -- in fact, they're not getting worn much, so I need to make an effort to wear those too. And I am set for long-sleeve dresses too! I got a couple at the end of the season (a Kamalikulture and one from Asos), just as the weather heated up here, that I can't wait to wear. They were both great fits on me, versatile enough to be casual, and actually LONG ENOUGH, so I pounced.

My footwear collection is, well, sizable, although I think some old boots might be ready to find new homes. I'll be posting some K/Ts in the future, I'm sure. I might be able to justify a new pair of tall boots if I find just the right ones. Maybe. I am also considering one pair of slipper-type flats, but I'm being very PPP.

I got a couple of new jackets at NAS, and we all know I did not NEED more jackets. I cannot wait to wear them! And I got that Trina Turk officers coat and cleaned out my coat closet, so I am good to go on coats.

All in all, I'm set for the cooler months. I'm thinking mostly of remixing and editing what I have. Now I just need to stay out of the stores.

I'm aiming for a slightly more minimal look this fall, with mostly slim or skinny pants and loose, fluid tops, and slightly more refined footwear. I've lost a little weight so I'm needing to replace some favorite basics that are now too big and consequently won't have much budget left for "fun" pieces.

Isabel, I love those brown wool check pants, but I never know how something like that will work in the winter. They look great with oxfords with some skin showing in warmer weather, but what does one do in cold weather? I'm clueless as far as footwear with that length when it's cold out. Will you wear tights under them?

Both pant options look like a great switch from jeans for fall. I really like the first one, it looks like you can have a lot of fun with these.

I went wild at NAS this year and ordered quite a large number of items. Last year at NAS I picked up very few items, and made the decision to overhaul my winter wardrobe this year instead.

My goals going into NAS were:
-New jeans options (except for two bright colors and a white pair, my jeans are always shades of blue as bootcut or straight legs so I wanted to add some variety here). I've picked up the Vince Camuto Camo jeans (which feel more like trouser material to me) already. And I am still working on BF jeans for me. I also have the grey metallic skinnies from Angie's picks list and a pair of black jeans getting altered. If both the BF jeans and grey skinnies work, that will round out my new bottoms for fall to 4 so I will be done here.

-Non blazer or cardigan options. I am a big fan of blazers but wanted a change this season. I picked up two, the Mural grey/white bomber and the Jacquard print bomber. So I'm done here too. Right now I am struggling with what blazers to donate to keep the "one in/one out" policy in my closet. I am thinking I will swap out some cardigans instead, since they are worn the same way as a blazer for me (as a top layer).

-Sweaters was a big hole by the end of last season. Many of my sweaters from last year were on their last legs so I really stocked up here. I have the Mixed Media Curio Sweater, the Nic + Zoe Pointelle Vneck, and I have quite a few on order. I'm not sure how many to keep yet, I plan to keep at least 3 or 4 of these heavier weight ones.

-An unintentional purchase was a sweatercoat. I'm a sucker for sweatercoats so I pouched when I saw a burgundy colored one by Tory Burch. I do have a navy BR one that is starting to pill, even with a sweatercomb, so I may swap out there.

-I was not looking for outerwear, but I only have 2 fall coats, a yellow mid length and a black hip length. So I added a black midlength (the Angie Laundry pick one with quilted sleeves) and I plan to keep it as a new addition to my coat wardrobe.

-For footwear, I do not need any tall boots so I did not look at them. I did need a fall bootie for business meetings and picked up the black Clark's Dewpoint. I also ordered some booties to wear with the new skinny jeans I am adding this season but I have to sort through my options when they arrive. I only plan to keep one, so that means two footwear additions this year.

I think I had good timing this year with NAS. I was hoping to overhaul my winter wardrobe and I saw many items that fit the bill. Of course now this means I have to sort through how much to keep, what I am donating so that my wardrobe stays small, and pack up my credit card for the rest of this year.

This is actually good to make me write down!

Needs:
- A new fall coat that makes me feel fab
- A new puffer that makes me feel as fab as a puffer can
- A pair of quality, comfortable fabulous black trousers

Wants:
-Suede Ankle boots in black that come weatherproof
-Suede knee high boots in black that come weatherproof

Danger zone:
-Skirts are fine, but I am backing away from dresses this fall. They are hard to fit to start with, and there are some other things on the back burner making them impractical. Yet, I love them and have to tell myself there will be more fab ones later!

I'm kind of depressed about shopping for fall clothing. It's not fun admitting that I am too fat for most of my wardrobe. Health issues have kept me pretty inactive so I am 20+ pounds heavier than I was a year ago.
I have already replaced most of my basic bottoms. I might look for some BF jeans since I don't currently have any basic blue jeans. I already bought a long sleeve jersey wrap dress and have a couple of skirts on the way but I need new tights to go with them.
I just received an order of long sleeve tees. I have a few thin cardigans and a cozy thick one that still fit. T-shirts and cardigans are my fall-winter uniform. I would like to shop for a couple of fun tops but I don't really know what I want.
I have all the footwear that I need but I would like a pair of low-heeled booties if something catches my eye.
I'm keeping the wardrobe pretty bare bones this year since I haven't completely given up hope of getting my weight back down and I don't need much variety when I only leave the house once or twice a week. Besides, it's much more fun to shop for accessories since size isn't an issue there! LOL

My only true "needs" are replacement black booties for my beloved Blowfish ones that can no longer be repaired, and a neutral colored trench coat that can be worn with dresses/skirts. I have my navy London Fog coat that is great with pants but I find it more a car coat length and I find it a bit short with dresses and skirts.

If I can find 2-3 dresses for work that can be worn on their own and layered at very good prices, I will buy those as well.

I would like a pair of nude or beige boots as well but that's more a want than a need.

Other than that, I'm good.

My list is pretty short. I've already ordered some grey jeans as I wanted to try something different than my usual blue. I have a black coated denim moto jacket with tags still on and just ordered the Spiegel "deal" to try as well. I've been looking for a new handbag in deep taupe/grey that has satchel and long strap option. I'd love to find some ankle boots in similar deep taupe color if possible. And maybe a few jewelry pieces I've been stalking.

I ordered a ton of things from NAS and ended up returning everything but 2 sweaters- a black Lafayette 148 in a nice weight and the EF black and white nubby one. I also recently bought this JCrew sweater to function as a jacket:

plus a navy/white sweater/jacket to wear with jeans.

One thing I tried and returned was the MK trench coat. It didn't wow me and I decided to just hem the pewter one I have and that will do for rain wear since I also have a black one.

I need to review my fall/winter shoes and boots but at this point I can't think of any real needs but I'd like to have navy booties and maybe a tall black if I can find a perfect one. The Blondos were close but a bit too snug. I recently added Jeffrey Campbell silver booties and red ankle strap shoes and I am eager to wear both of them.

For trousers, I want to add a gray or charcoal pair plus something in a small pattern. Maybe a pair of jeans too but that's not really a need.

Other than that, I think I need a couple of silk tanks or short sleeve tops to use for layering but that should do it.

Isabel, both of your choices look like fun additions for fall!

My fall wish list:
- boyfriend jeans (I have white boyfriend jeans, but want some blue too)
- mid-gray jeans, dark distressed jeans
- snake-print shoes (I'll likely try painting some -- we'll see)
- a terrific winter coat (I have a passable one, so not really a need)
- cobalt pants
- knit moto jacket (maybe)
- sassy sweatshirt (I'll probably just sew one)

I LOVE both pants for you! I would be very tempted by the military ones if there was a khaki color.

As much as I wanted to be super picky this year, I did end up upgrading coats and footwear to deal with my increasing issues with discomfort (replaced black trench, swapped wool coat for olive Burberry, got a steal on some OTK boots, and filled black dressy boot hole).

I AM definitely passing on the gray cashmere sweater I ordered from NAS. Just not a necessity with my lifestyle now.

I still need a shorter dress/skirt that is easier to wear with tall boots. Since Angie said tall boots are back, I want to wear them lots.

My main needs for fall/winter were boots and I think I've almost got that covered with NAS. Now I'd like to refresh my pants for work. I've always worn some sort of boot cut trouser for work and would like to experiment with some slimmer cuts and maybe some baggier styles as well. I'm not so excited about doing that online so I'm going to have to make time to get into some B&M stores this fall.

My biggest goal for fall is to replace my tall black boots to wear over jeans. The ones I own right now were bought before I lost 30 pounds and have a bow on the side... definitely not me. Other than that, I feel pretty good about my wardrobe the way it is.

Oh Isabel, those wool pants are awesome! I have something like that on my own list, only I want non-cropped ones -- more of a classic trouser cut.

And even those harem pants are pretty cool, and normally I'm a big hater of the harem style. But those are reminiscent of army pants, with just the right amount of slouch and, importantly, a reasonably positioned crotch point. I like 'em.

My list for fall is short. I will renew my search for a stylish wool coat, but have added trench coat to the list. It will be one or the other though -- can't buy both in one year! Then there's the wool pants (maybe brown tweed?), and I'm also strongly considering these:

I've been hoping for a pair of t-straps for ages, and I've got a pair of shoes from this shoe family that are insanely comfortable and that get a lot of wear. My only hesitation is that I've been in the market for a pair of flat oxfords for about two years, and have not found the right pair. If I buy these, I will yet again have to pass up the oxfords, should I happen to find them.

Other than that, there's literally nothing I need. I've already got a lot of fall clothes that I love, and I'm itching to wear them when the weather turns.

For fall specifically, I'm thinking pine green, pine green, pine green. Lol. With a dash of black and white. I'm pretty set, but I'd like a new lightweight puffer (what else?) and also a wool coat if I can find one in pine green. I think a pair of D'Orsay flats in practical black as well. I wouldn't say no to some low heeled ankle booties.

Beyond the season, I'm on the hunt for PPP trousers and other things on the perennial wishlist, like a pair of bright bright blue knee boots.

The a/w merchandise is just starting to come out and knowing myself I will see plenty I like. However, my 'ideal self' who is much more minimalist than my real self, would like to acquire a pair of OTK boots and a statement bag. This 'ideal self' would like to see if she can wear her last season's clothes successfully, but with the addition of some strong, statement footwear and bag(s).

The one exception I might make to this envisioned SYC is a better quality bomber jacket than the one I already own.
