Not just stadiums....playoff parties! Superbowl parties! Sports bars! If you are actually into sports, you find lots of reasons to wear your team's jersey every week during the season. IMHO it is only ghetto if 1)it is not game day or 2) if you're wearing it like gang attire. Perhaps this varies based on region. Just for fun...photo is me, unstyled but lovin' life at a gameday party, and looking non-ghetto!

Ok, I will concede on parties and sports bars and game days, that you can't be dinged for wearing your team's jersey. But it's still a little bit ghetto. I mean, stadium sports *are* all about unwashed masses. Roman tradition and all...

But I totally agree on regional differences. I lived in AZ for awhile, and it wasn't so ghetto to wear sports jerseys. It has to be said, tho, that there is no city in AZ that has become one with the great Big City in the sky.

Which I find rather interesting.

Here's the thing for me, I grew up in a big football family and town. My older brother was a star athlete, captain of the high school football team, first team All State, big college career, bowl games on TV, drafted by the pros.

In high school and college I think of all the player's adoring girlfriends walking around wearing their jerseys, mooning over their guys. Heck, in college I even wore one of my boyfriend's hockey jerseys as a nightshirt. So when I see these type of sport uniform shirts, especially a very literal one like the Rodarte, worn as "cool" fashion on a grown woman (outside of tailgates, parties and game day), I have this not so positive association, sort of and including how I see the Victoria's Secret Pink Varsity line on anyone over high school age. Hence, the juvenile and cutsie.

Just to chime back in, I guess someone might think I was a poseur for wearing cowboy boots when I'm not wrangling cows, but to me, that kind of boot has evolved beyond one function - like jeans. Hard hats and sports jerseys are still event-specific to me, however.

And for the record, I still don't think the design of this jersey is the best you could do.

I definitely think you can rock this look!

I've been mired in QA all day today, and have only been periodically checking this thread on my phone.
I appreciate all the input.
I really like this jersey and have more than one styling idea. First off I'm thinking with my leather moto pants. Or my tuxedo jacket.
Petitesanonymous, this is my blog. http://noscrubs.lookfab.com/
I wear hospital issued unisex scrubs for 40 plus hours a week. So I try to make the most of my off hours stylistically.
Your styling of your SF jersey is so far from my style. Besides we won the Superbowl, your team didn't make it (just a little dig, ).
Here's how I dressed for a Superbowl party

Besides in all honestly my sports are hiking and skiing. In college, I competed in sailing. So decidedly non-traditional sports. When I attended a PAC-10 school, I would cater and bartend for the alumni at football games, because I was more interested in paying for school than attending the game.

I say YAY for you. I think you could make this jersey look super cool in the way you've described. I actually like the Rodarte jersey; with a white button up, a great statement necklace or two, some killer jeans and heels it would be OTT divine on you! I love your fearless approach to fashion and your eye for combining styles to create interesting and cohesive fashion forward outfits.

@annagybe, I like your superbowl outfit (except for the stupid gosh darn seahawks colors!). I guess I am not too worried about looking stylish at football parties, lol (my pic was not very stylish, but I like the jersey anyway. It has pink lettering with sparkles!! I got it in the kids' department). I checked out some of your pinterest stuff. I like a lot of it. Just not this one. Scrubs 40 hours per week? I get why you want to dress up on your off time.
