Went to buy Bra, came home with Bailey-esque Bargain!

ETA: This is NOT an April Fool's post!

No bras in my size, no surprise, but I did have a nice talk with the similarly ...uh, shall we say "delicately endowed" salesperson and the shop owner and they are ordering some in for me to try. Score.

Then I went upstairs to their sale room. What did I find but this dress? It is designed by Melissa Nepton (http://www.melissanepton.com/) of Montreal. The regular price was $275. I got it for $49.

You will see that on the model, this is a thigh high tunic. On me, it is a knee length dress. The fabric (a rayon, spandex, poly mix) is extremely light, making this dress a three season possibility here (fall/winter/spring).

I don't think the photos really do it justice; it's gloomy here today and the lighting is lousy. Hubby was super impressed! And I am happy because it has a high neckline and sleeves!

It was meant to come with a slender belt; that belt went missing somewhere between full and sale price. Do you think I should hunt something similar down? Does it work as is (no belt)?

I ALSO discovered this pair of Aquatalia flats, reduced to $59. The sizing on these is completely wonky. I normally take a 7 and these are a 6. No wonder they couldn't sell them at full price! But on me, the fit is fab, and what's even more amazing is they don't flap off my foot. The footbed is moulded and padded a bit, the soles are rubber, there is a 3/4 inch or so lift (perfect for me so my arches don't give up the ghost) AND they are rainproof. My first flats in about 20 years!

No returns on these, so I hope they are okay. I will post some styling options later on for your discerning eyes.

That dress is super cute, and what a great deal! I think it looks good without the belt, but would also look good with one if you happen to find one. Great flats too - those are adorable!

Thanks, all. Christianne, it is funny; this boutique is actually WAY outside my price range. I can't ordinarily shop there at all. Not only that, but for whatever reason, they mostly stock clothes in black, black and more black! But it is the only place where I can get bras that even remotely fit, so I have been to visit them a few times. And now they have this sale room, which is obviously much closer to my budget. I must say, they were incredibly nice and helpful, too, so I have a feeling that it might be worthwhile to develop a good relationship with them, even if I can't afford their regular prices. They might start alerting me before items go on sale!

Great dress! Any belt you choose could be fun, but it's fine without too.

GREAT dress and shoes! Aquatalias tend to run small, a half to whole size. Amazing bargains on both, they look like a million bucks on you.

I also love that jacket that is shown with the dress on the model. I want to see more from this designer.

I think it is funny that you consider yourself short at 5'4" and I consider myself quite tall at just under 5'5". Perception huh?

Cute flats too. I can see them with a pair of white ankle pants in spring.

So funny, Dianthus! It really is in how we see ourselves. (Well...the truth is, I might be closer to 5'3" and a bit, but I won't say so out loud...)

And here's the thing; you have a lovely long leg line. So you appear much taller than I do whatever you wear.

Although I've been 5'4" also most of my life I've thought of myself as tall because I shot up faster than many girls in my grade as a child. Maybe our perception comes from preteen years.

Dress is great, but I love the shoes even more.
It helps to cultivate a relationship with a small boutique. I'm a rare random shopper in a local boutique, but the owner recognizes me. This weekend she gave 20% off three items, including an amazing leather jacket. Nordstrom is great, but I don't think they'd do that.

And that dress is unbelievable. Fits like a glove, ticks all the boxes (colour, length, neckline, print placement), and doesn't *need* a belt, but I can see one being interesting too. And so versatile (just when you were talking of season-specific pieces too.)

And the big question I have on those lovely shoes is - do they stay on your feet? I thought that you, like me, couldn't get ballet flats that didn't hang off your heel?
