Went shopping! Size up my loot please?

Just came back from a little shopping trip, which now means I have to bug you all for keep/return feedback!

The focus of this expedition was tops and autumn/winter dresses.

Three tops came home with me. Please let me know how they are...if any of them aren't doing it for you, I can take them back.

Pic 1: Blue-print tunic
Pic 2: A red top with a scoop neck and black floral pattern
Pic 3: Solid teal top with a knot front (I imagine wearing this with my pencil skirt or boot cuts

Now for dresses

I located what I think will be the absolute perfect dress for me this fall...it just didn't come in my size today, but is being ordered in. Here's a link to the dress, and I will be purchasing it in red. Don't be fooled by the description -- the fabric is totally suitable for every-day officewear!

After my abortive attempt at a tunic sweater before, imagine my surprise to find a sweater dress I liked a lot! The neckline on it is higher than I typically wear, but I'm ok with that for winter as long as it looks ok. I'm fully open to adding a scarf or other long necklace to it, if needed.
It has a self-tie belt that I've knotted at the back for a bit more definition. I adore the fabric and the subtle ruffle plackett, and the colour sounds fun (they said it was a plum or eggplant shade), but you girls have the final say.

Yup, Michelle, that first top is really amazing. What is the brand? I've been looking for long sleeved pretty tops and this might just be the thing.

Wow!! This reaction just made my day!
Bella, it turns out the blue patterned tunic top was made by a local guy!! Apparently he used to make this pattern in dresses, but he wasn't cutting them right. The owner of the store I went to asked if he could do them as tunics instead, and the result is before you. She's the one who helped me shop today and was wearing this very top...she urged me to try it and I'm glad I did!

Angie, I'm so glad you like the sweater dress, because I do too!! The neckline isn't too high on me?

Joy: I was thinking scarf or pearls too. I have perfect pearls for this, and Angie is borderline ordering me to get the extra-long glass strand she used in her video.

It just seems very straight. It doesn't look straight on you because you aren't straight, but it looks like it's *supposed* to be straight. I would have liked it more if it had a fuller skirt, I think.

But clearly I'm in the minority on this, so if you love it I wouldn't let it bother you. I just feel obligated to give you my honest assessment.

Michelle, I think you truly hit the jackpot. I love them all, but #1 is by far my favorite, followed by #2. Both are very figure-flattering and slimming items. The color of #3 is fabulous on you, and that's wonderful that you found the elusive sweater dress! What a tricky piece to locate.
I don't think that the neckline is too high when you wear it partially unbuttoned the way it is in the photos. In my opinion, it would probably not work as well if it were fully buttoned up unless you had some sort of layer (a scarf, chunky necklace, or jacket?) to break up the bust area.

Chiming in ~ that first top is amazing on you. Wow! The red top has a great drape on you ~ form fitting without being clingy. I love the sweater dress on you; it reads a deep plum on my computer screen. While I love the color of the third top, I want to mention two things: One, it dips very low in the front and shows your bra a bit, so it would need a cami underneath (you may be already aware of this). Two, the fabric seems a bit thin and clingy, so have someone evaluate it on you as you move around in it. It looks like it has the potential to show every outline of a bra underneath, etc. A cami underneath might take care of that issue too. The color is fab on you!

Michelle, you may not want to hear from me again......but I don't deter easily. I LOVE nos. 1 & 2 for tops and the dress is a 10 to the nth power ! The color on 3 is really spectacular but the fit seems a bit awkward to me. I think I find it a teeny bit short for the angular front.

I LOVE it all. The first top is AMAZING. And I'm just the opposite of Maya-- I love the sweater dress. With the buttons unbuttoned, it gives you the deeper V you are looking for.

#1 is fab a keeper for sure.
#2 is a great color but I'm not a fan of the draping, compared to #1 this one is only ok to me as a stand alone piece, I think it will be great for layering though.
#3 is nice but will need a camisole underneath, it has a deep v.
#4 is a lovely sweater dress, I'm a big fan of these in the cooler months. Great find they are not easy to find.

Wow, I think 3 out of 4 are sure winners for you!

I'm with Sparky on the blue top, though -- seems like it may be too clingy (I think I'm seeing the outline of the top of your bra cups). Even if it has to go back, I'd say you had a *very* efficient trip.

LOVE #1! Fits you perfect too. #4 is my second fave and I think it would look great with a scarf. I think #2 is nice because its fitted without being clingy and the colours great. I'd bet it looks really nice with a pair of dark jeans. #3 is quite flattering, but I'd like it better with a cami, though you may have already planned on doing this.

I also think the red cinch dress will look great on you too.

oh my, you look amazing in blue! I love #1 & #3 on you. Not feeling it for #2 (I am anti crewnecks, lol), If you jazz up with a scarf or long pearl, or whatever you do to add some vertical color blocking, it may be just fine. It fit you well.

That sweater dress is a great cut and colour. I am envious, I have trouble with sweater dresses. I'm also going to send some love the way of that red top, it's very modern and it falls so beautifully.

This is a great haul. I love 1 and 2 and I think the dress is fantabulous. I echo other's concerns about top 3, although the color is lovely. Would it be a possibility to size up so that you can easily wear a layer underneath?

Now that I have recovered, I wanted to add that the red and solid blue top are KILLER too.

But the dress and first blue top have been elevated to KILLER to the power of KILLER. The neckline on the dress is great. Wear a low knotted scarf with it too! Add boots, moto jacket (or red coat) and you are set, set, set.

Maya, it might be the angle of the dress that's putting you off.

Ladies, you've made me a happy bunny right now. I'm so glad I get to keep all this loot!
To all those who mentioned the low neckline of the solid teal top (pic 3), I absolutely plan to wear a cami with it and intended to do so all along. Sorry I forgot to mention that before! Interesting that some thought it was clingy -- it doesn't feel that way in real life. As someone said, though, the cami will likely sort that out anyway.

To Isabelle and anyone else that offered descenting opinions, please never feel the need to apologize! Like I said to Maya, candour and honesty is exactly what I'm after on this forum and anywhere else, so I really appreciate any and all opinions!

Angie: I totally planned to wear a scarf with this. What colour do you suggest? The black and white houndstooth?

Better late than never?
LOVE all four of these but REALLy love the look of the dress you ordered. I know some think they are passe, but I adore a ruffle every now and again and I think the faux wrap style of that dress will fit you beautifully!
