Growing up I always wanted to marry a tall man. He had to be educated, kind and treat women well but he had to be tall.

As I grew older I realized that the worth of man has nothing to do with height. My husband and I both had the misfortune of 'being in love' with the wrong individuals but it helped us realize how good we could be for each other when we finally met.

I'm 5 ft 6inches in my fussy feet, he is 5ft 8inches tall. I tend to wear heels upto 2.25 inches at most. Ocassionally I will wear the rare three inch wedge or sitting shoe and I feel a little strange to tower over him a bit but he doesn't seem to mind. I think it is kind of sexy even but my Indian culutral norms which always insist on the wife being shorter make me feel like I'm doing something risque and not acceptable whenever I indulge in my occasional high heel.

Our friends who are both Indian and have lived in the US for over 15 yrs and both very mainstream Americana by now and are physicians recently commented on how Sly Stallnone and Ms Nielsen or Tom and Nicole looked weird ( due to height issues) and that a wife must always look/appear shorter or of similar height.

So do you have similar hangups? If so why? If not, why not?

I would love to hear your perspectives.
