So I've been stuck at home and ended up watching this local show today. They had a segment on spring trends. Seriously they need to hire Angie as the stylist. Because this segment had me actively cringing.

Cropped look, proportions were off. I think the underlayer should have been longer and more fitted. Nude shoes with that oatmeal sweater were tonally off.
Floral- Didn't look like a floral to me. Also another tonal mismatch with the cognac sandals and nude jacket.
Pastel- Um, that's not a pastel. And brown shoes again!
Black & White - Host said it was run around town outfit, um not those shoes. The top was just weird. Pant length was iffy. But at least this was a look.
Midi - just throwing a scarf on it, not even an attempt to tie it interesting? Would have been better with a jacket that a long sleeve t-shirt. At least the brown shoes here bookend the model's hair.
Minor points for using real women as models. But UGH, so much UGH.

I agree with you about the proportions on the cropped looks, Anna, and I thought the African American model was probably rolling her eyes at the description of her shoes as "nude".

Yes, they need to hire Angie.

Ag, I love you are doing this, but when you post links in your posts it takes me to a whole new site. Can you post some pictures too? I know, I know, hold my hand. but it would make it easier (for me anyway) to participate. Screenshots work!

And, having bounced to that link, watched, and then returned, those are some depressing new looks. Maybe the segment is aimed at the extremely trend-averse crowd.

This is an education for me. I am genuinely intrigued. I liked reading your critique and then watching the video.

I have some questions and they're about shoes:

The first look with the oatmeal sweater -- what shoe would you put with this? Was the Vince Camuto nude too warm for the oatmeal sweater?

The second and third looks -- what shoes would have been better with these outfits?

in #1 I believe the shoes were too warm for the oatmeal. It was more of an afterthought, "oh nude shoes go with everything"
#2 I'd revamp completely, blush moto, real floral shirt, boyfriend jeans (the missing fluid fit), white oxfords or smoking slippers.
#3 Oversized pastel sweater, ditch the purple blouse, white skinnies are fine, pastel wedge sneakers.

If she is a stylist I would not want to be her client. Her comment regarding not liking volume on the midi skirt and preferring a column look was startling as the midi skirts with volume are all over the place and in my opinion a pretty silhouette. In her defense the top was not floral and she did mention it as a bright print...I cringed way too much at these looks...

Here are some screen shots. #4 looks seasonally confused, and more than a little uncomfortable. But I'd happily wear the cropped sweater in #1 or the leather jacket in #2 (styled differently).

The shoes on #5, is her little toe trying to escape? My toes do that with some shoes and I just avoid those pairs, no way to make them comfortable or grounded looking.

Anna, I agree with your comments about the outfits.

I winced when I saw the model's toe in that shoe (meanwhile, the word "comfortable" was in the air....).

I think we're simply spoiled with Angie's expert curating! She finds the very best of what's out there, illustrates how to wear it, and adds in comfortable footwear!

Well, you won't get any argument from me about Angie's skill as stylist. The outfits on the video aren't to my taste, but, to be fair, I think the stylist on the video is targeting quite a specific demographic.

But I'm a bit confused, Anna, as to how this thread could be a direct benefit Angie? What change do you want?

Write on their facebook page, tweet, send emails. Ask them to change the stylist.

Anna, is this fashion update a regular feature on this show? Do they use the same stylist every time or they invite different ones? If it is a permanent one it would involve quite much more effort that if they are inviting different stylists.

This brings up a question for me. Obviously, most of us here are very impressed with Angie's skill and talent as well as her graciousness.

So if we see her seemingly passed over for opportunities like this, we feel a bit defensive on her behalf.

It happens a lot in creative fields. Someone who's very good at what they do fails to achieve recognition, or gets only a little bit, while another person gains more and more of it.

It's so easy to get caught up in feelings of rivalry or envy. I know I have fallen prey to that sometimes on my own behalf or on behalf of others that I deeply admire.

But ultimately, I think it's best if I can approach the situation a slightly different way, trying to remember that 1). I do what I do for love; 2). If I have the respect of those that matter to me, that's what matters most; and 3). dressing well is the best revenge.

Well, okay, maybe I can't really lay claim to #3, but you get the idea.

And also I try to remember that generosity of spirit is a pretty darned big reward in itself.

I don't know if that makes any sense in this context, but I thought I would put it out there.

And add that I love the idea of promoting Angie's work in a positive way. And maybe this will be a great spur for us to do a bit more of that!

That station is local?! They don't realize what a local talent they have, do they? I've not yet been able to see the video, but Laurinda's screen shots do nothing to get me excited about the fashions.
