Warm Leopard Prints - better with light or dark greys?

Angie (and others) do you prefer darker greys or lighter ones with warm-toned leopard prints? This ensemble shows darker greys which I think would work a bit better than very pale greys. Wonder what others think…?

I tend to think darker greys (almost charcoal) look better, but I'm not sure why. Maybe a light grey has more of an "icy" or pastel feel?

Hmm, I'm thinking that WitchyD has a point. Some pale greys can be icy so I would proceed with caution with those. I would same mid grey to dark tones suit a warm leopard.

I like the icy, even aqua tinged grays with darker leopard. Just got some at Chicos I'm pairing with a pale blue sweater.

Very interesting comments! In general I think I'd prefer the darker greys, but I could also see a warm leopard print with pale blue and or icy grey with blue undertones as long as the grey was not too pale. I ordered a leopard bag but it's going to be another week or so before it arrives and I'll get to try it with things then.

I think it depends on the leopard! They are all differently toned themselves.

In my outfit I am pairing a light (ish) blue (ish) grey with a warm leopard in the bag. And it seemed to work out okay. The coat is also a fairly light grey, maybe you'd call it medium? I'm not sure. It's not the palest but it's definitely not charcoal.

Prefer to match undertones/warmth. So a warm grey with a brown undertone regardless of light or dark would be more suitable with a warm leopard.

My thoughts are like Suz's. Some leopard prints have a lot of white or pale background and look great with light neutrals ( light grey). Others are darker and better with a warm charcoal

Loving all these responses! Especially the ones that said to look at not only the obvious tones in the print but the undertones too. I happen to love mixing camel with charcoal grey, in general, but they have to be just the right tones and I realize that is not everyone's thing.

Once the bag arrives I'll get to play with outfits. Even if I end up not liking the particular bag I'll get some good ideas. I think I will like it and hope so!

Angie has several ensembles that combine leopard print or cognac with greys and I think you will see a range. I actually like the warm tones as a "pop" against the cool and with your blonde hair, leopard bookends/ or ties together. I used to ADORE leopard print (warm ones) for that reason alone. If I wore a leopard shoe or belt (or bag) it automatically looked cohesive with just about anything, due to my hair.

Now with my grey hair, I have to be more careful and deliberate about it since I have no warm tones. It's an addition and the leopard needs a strong dose of black, blue, charcoal, or white for it to work.
