Warm in white; high low look

It's feeling a bit Wintery here at the moment. When I got up to go to hula yesterday morning it was 13 degrees C. That's cold!

This morning I lay in bed with the snooze button on thinking that I needed to keep warm but I didn't want to wear black. In fact I felt like wearing white.

This is what I came up with.

Jacket: Sass and Bide
Tshirt: local boutique
Jeans: Kmart
Boots: Target
Scarf: Red Cross thrift shop

I feel warm and comfy in this. What do you think? Does it work together?

Totally works. I love taupe, camel, and tan with white. This is a beautiful way to make white a bit autumnal.

Please forgive me for chuckling a bit at the idea of 13C as wintery cold. You have my permission to laugh outright at me. The temperature here is supposedly 23C right now and I am dripping with perspiration after a walk. Sticky sticky hot and we have fans on full blast. Honestly, it feels almost as hot as Beijing to me right now! Granted, there is a bit of humidity. (Um...more than a bit, I'm sure.) But still. You would be as comfortable as a cucumber in this weather, I'll bet.

Haha Suz, I though about you as I typed the 13, but Shevia understands! Mmm, 23 degrees sounds like elbow length sleeves to me. I think that the hottest, most humid place I have ever been to is Bali. The average year-round temperature is around 30°C with a humidity level of about 85%. I drip like a sad wet rag there.

Suz - just wondered at what point you turn the heating on? We'd probably turn it on for some of the morning on a day like Coco describes. We definitely had it on this morning at 8 degrees C (Only in one room though - the girls and I all get dressed in front of the heater)

This is beautiful and whilst it is hi-lo style, it is done so well, that it all look hi-end style. 13 degrees sounds like coat weather to me too!

I think you look super! I'm with Suz weather wise, although I'm further south so maybe a bit warmer. It was 32.7 C here yesterday, plus it was humid! Oh, I just retread what she wrote! It was 23 north and 32 here!

The verticals created by the scarf + slim jeans + heels are very elongating.

So beautiful! That jacket is really stunning on you. To me this is a perfect example of letting the high end piece be the hero of the outfit and then using low end pieces to fill in around it.

So..I am feeling a bit better this morning because I realize that our humidity was 80% (it is now raining).

In Ontario we have a saying..."It's not the heat, it's the humidity." And it is true, especially in Southern Ontario, where I grew up, but even here in the cooler eastern part of the province. While we do get our share of 30C days in summer (and some even higher) typical summer temperatures in Kingston are between 23 - 26 or so. BUT...even here, humidity levels make it feel much hotter and if you don't have AC (as we don't) it really affects you.

The hottest place I have been is Eastern China (Shanghai, Hangzhou) in early September. Temps of about 35 or more and humidity of about 80% or more. Carrying a 10 month baby through tourist sites in a sling!

I lost 10 pounds in as many days.

Anne, we have central heat. It's on a thermostat so it goes on automatically when temps in the house sink lower than around 18 or so.

I agree. Suz, the humidity makes such a difference. We only ever get to around 70% at the highest here and that's pretty rare.

I can't imagine temps of 35 and 80% humidity plus another little warm body strapped to you!

I think you have got to a great place style wise- a mix of glamourous boho and modern... I think that balance is fun as you can mix it up depending on the occasion and mood. I don't see you ever wanting to be totally modern classic, nor totally boho, yet you definitely have these influences.

I finally feel that I'm getting better at mixing different elements together and trying different colour combos that I wouldn't normally try....and you're right Sally, it didn't occur to me until you said it, I almost always end up mixing my 'boho influenced' items with my 'black/white sleek/modern' items and I'm usually pretty happy with the result.

Ouch Deborah, I shouldn't be complaining at our 7 degree temps!
