So nice to be back after vacation!
We had a fantastic time in Puerto Rico, although I will say that DH and I realized that it is time to start traveling without DDs. We love them, and we love being with them, but we take them EVERYWHERE. And now they are adults. So, okay, enough. A vacation for four adults is really expensive! And two adult siblings can still act like siblings! So there were moments, shall we say .....
But overall, it was a great trip. Island time meant that a single week stretched out and it felt like a long break from reality. I had to stay in touch with one client but that was not too difficult. And the weather worked in our favor: hot but not too hot: 80s, breezy, and no rain until the very end.
We had two days in San Juan where we renewed our vows, then we drove to the west coast and lived the laidback surfer life in Rincon (the girls and I took surfing lessons in Isabella while DH went diving), and then we flew to Vieques, a small island off the East Coast, for our last three days. Vieques was truly magical. We stayed at a very modern and minimalist hotel, and if it is the only place I ever vacation in for the rest of my life, I will be happy: no TV, no internet, no walls even -- the breeze rolls right through the room. Wild horses roam the grounds (and the island). Fresh bread, eggs, fruit, and coffee are delivered daily so you can cook your own breakfast. It's perfectly quiet and heavenly.
We had a professional photographer for the renewal but those pics are not back yet. Here are a few random shots of the trip. Other than the renewal, we had one night out with a colleague of mine who lives in San Juan, and I dressed for that -- so we got a shot of it. Otherwise, I went without makeup and without care for fashion the entire week.
Pics 1-3: San Juan for renewal. We never found silver bracelets we liked, so we didn't exchange gifts, but I did find this great lucite cuff in San Juan, made by a local artist from one of her photographs. The image is reflective of the lush island, and I could not resist the citron! I wore it to the ceremony.
Pic 4: Isabella, a major surfing destination in the fall (waves are small now, which was perfect for us).
Pics 5-12: Vieques.
Pic 13: Night out in San Juan.
