v-neck under blazer? - YouLookFab Forum

Ladies, I hope you'll forgive me for barging in here after being absent for so long and begging for your help.

Long story made short: New job. Great Opportunity, nice people. Ridiculous amounts of overtime. No free time. *sigh*

Anyway, a case I've been working on is going to trial starting tomorrow and I've been lining up all my soul-less suits so I appropriately blend into the background (my role is a supportive one and I don't want to be the source of any distractions to the attorneys I work for.)

I love to buy suits. I'm not so good at buying tops to wear under the jackets. Here's where I need your help. Can I wear a v-neck top like this under the jacket? All the photos I've found on the web show either crew necks or scoop necks under blazers. I'm not going to wear a button down. I need to lift boxes and computer equipment in this get up and need to move my arms and not worry about the buttons popping over my chest. Loose sleeveless blouses like the one pictured here are the most comfortable...but is the neckline right?

Congrats on the new job (though condolences on the time issue)!

No problem from my end, especially as if you have to start off with the jacket buttoned the V neck will echo its lines.

Since you'll be lifting and bending a lot, have you checked for any inadvertent flashing with the latter position?

YAY new job! (This is exactly why I stopped looking for a FT job 2 months ago -- I can't deal with the OT)
I wear v necks under suits all the time. It works better for my shape/body type. I think you will blend appropriately into the background with this color combination. I like this better tucked and I would add a 14-16 inch strand of pearls to the neckline so that it doesn't look so bare. (Appropriately sober legal-wear ;-))

Looks fine to me. I think it looks very work appropriate and I like DV's styling ideas too as I think I prefer your to tucked as well.

Congrats on the new job! (I seem to recall there being some stressors at your prior job?) I concur with the v neck looking good, wearing the top tucked and following Vix's suggestion of a flash test.

I think sometimes a v-neck can fight with the line of a suit jacket, but I see no problem here! I think it looks great!

Tucked is lovely. Pearls work but also other types of short necklaces such as darker tones that echo the suit.
