Update on Jessica Simpson Darryle Blazer

I posted a K/R thread on the weekend regarding the Jessica Simpson Darryle blazer that Angie has included in her recent blog post (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....yle-blazer).

After playing around with it all yesterday afternoon (what else is a girl gonna do in this kind of cold?), I have decided to return it.

Although I love the blazer and don't mind the fit, it turns out it really isn't all that versatile a piece. It looks great with black but when I paired it with other items such as coloured tops, over patterned dresses, etc. it just looked "out of place".

I have decided to wait until spring and look for my perfect white blazer which is what I really want and will be so much more versatile.

Sometimes "love just isn't enough" - lol!

Good for you for realizing this. Sometimes you just have to buy it and try it to get it out of your system. There are times I get so fixated on an item that I'm convinced I can't get by without it--until I get it home and try to wear it. You are a smart shopper, Shannon! Thanks for sharing.

I went back and read your other thread and I can understand how it might not be that versatile. It looks great on you but sometimes that's not enough.

Maybe you could look for white pantsuit. I had one once and wore it to death, as a suit and the jacket alone. I really must look for another one.

I hear you. It's a really nice jacket, seems to fit well - looks great on you - but I can see how it wouldn't be that versatile. Except, perhaps, for Jessica.

I loved it on you but if you don't feel this is the right piece for you then return is the wise move.
I am sure Universe does not like the vacancy and will provide the perfect blazer for you!

Sveta & Suz: I loved it on me too but just didn't feel like it worked with enough things in my closet to warrant the space, you know?

I also found the cream colour kind of "off" and a bit difficult to work with. I think a true white will be more versatile in the long run.

I must say though that now you've got me wondering...aaaaahhhhh...I hate it when I'm wishy-washy!!!

I'm on the hunt for the perfect pure white blazer as well. I find it much less forgiving than the darker colours. So I have to find it in person which is more tricky. I do hold great optimism for both of us though.

Just curious, does a piece have to be remixable to have a place in your wardrobe?
I am keeping my tux jacket. I am planning to wear it with my R&B booties and tux skinnies. Even if I never wear it any other way, I'll be pretty darn happy with this jacket.

Rita - at this stage of my wardrobe and budget, I do need my pieces to be more versatile than just go with one or two things.

But in theory, no - not everything needs to be re-mixable.
