K/R Jessica Simpson Darryle blazer (ETA question at bottom)

Angie included this blazer in her recent Fab Toppers blog post and I had to chuckle because I had tried the blazer on about a week ago and loved it. But I had some concerns regarding styling it.

But I couldn't get the blazer out of my mind...c'mon ladies...you KNOW how that is...I kept thinking about it and finally went back and they had two left, my size and one smaller, for 50% off. I grabbed it and pretty much ran to the check out.

Here are a couple of quick stylings - one with with my black BR sheath dress, one with my tweed-ish Jessica trousers and a black cowl neck tank and one with my slouchy jeans and a plain white tee (ideally a v-neck tee would be better but I don't have one in white - yet). The last two pics are showing the blazer done up for fit.

It borders on too big but IMO, in a good way. It's almost a slouchy boyfriend kind of fit and I like that. I did try on the one smaller which I could not do up, which isn't a total deal breaker regarding blazers, but it just didn't hang the same - that nice "easy" kind of fit.

Anyway...over to you...what do you think?

BTW both hubby and MIL think it's fantastic.

Not an expert on fit, but I like it on you! I like he way you have styled it, and I like its versatility. The fact that it is an Angie pick speaks to style.

I think it had an almost "tux" fit. Looser, not so fitted. I do like it for you and could see it working with a lot of your wardrobe you have posted. However, you have been saying lately that you are drawn to bright and bold colors. While this would work with bright colors, it is black and white. Will it I've you the happy factor of a colored blazer?

I like it a lot! The fit looks good to me - easy but certainly not boyfriend-ish. I especially like it in 1 and 3. I am not as convinced about 5, I like the proportions you get from the dark lapels and dark top.

Can you scrunch/roll the sleeves so the black lining doesn't show? Or do you like the contrast there?

I'm happy to see this on a real person, it's been on my wishlist since Angie posted it.

Thanks Thistle - it is true that I'm wanting bright colours these days but black and white is also a huge part of my style. I enjoy the high contrast. Just to clarify, the jacket is actually a soft cream colour, not a true white. Will it make you feel better if I tell you that my happiness factor when taking these pics was off the scale???

Oooh! I was hoping we'd get to see this soon! I really like it, Shannon. I love the slightly slouchy fit of it, it's easy, elegant, and fun. I have a very slight concern about the shoulder fit....how much too big is it there? In a couple of pics (mostly where your hand's on your hip) you can see it lift in a way that experience tells me is due to its being a bit big in that area. OR due to stiff and funny shoulder pads, maybe -- but they might soften and conform to your body as you wear it more. Or if you give it a good pound, ha!

Anyway, I am saying KEEP.

And I want one, too.

Posted at the same time CF - I think I will actually have to get the sleeves shortened because they are quite long on me. I don't mind the black showing though.

Do you think a different colour tee would make it look better with jeans? I do want to be able to wear it casually as well.

Back to ask how the sizing on this is, especially through the shoulders - it's sold out in a lot of sizes already.

I think it's great. The fit looks good in this size to me. Since it has a tuxedo-ish vibe I don't think you want it to be super fitted.

I like all the ways you've styled it too.

It is both a bit big in the shoulders and a bit stiff in the shoulders Suz. I'm thinking it's ok though because I usually don't stand or walk around with my hand on my hip - LOL!!!

Ceit - I think it's truly Urban Lady Prince - Lady when worn with a dress and Prince when worn with trousers!

Moira - will definitely try it with the B44 dress. The cream of the jacket will pull out the thinner cream stripe in the dress. And so relieved to hear I don't look like a waiter!

Sveta - I guess it would be too short. And I don't think it's meant to be cropped

I love the cut in the front!! My only question is whether the shoulders are too wide? Sometimes it's hard for me to tell in pics. Other than that, love!

I love it! It seems a bit long for skirts though, but I guess it is only me, who sees it this way.

Rae - yes, the shoulders are a little big. But even the size down was the same in the shoulders. Do you think it's a deal breaker?

I think the shoulders are meant to be bigger for this tux style. I just ripped off sleeves on mine from BR for alterations and there are shoulder pads there all right.
No waiter in sight from where I stand, Shannon!:-)

Hmmm, I'm not sure I like how the should seams are sort of hanging off of your shoulders, esp. noticeable in pics 5-7...How do the sleeves looked unrolled?
