REPRISE for Time’s Up. 30x30 #4 Unshopping and It’s a tunic!

I just learned that legislators here are planning to open the new session dressed in black, in solidarity with the Time’s Up movement. I have no idea if others are doing this, but I’m going to ditch what I planned to wear and go all-black today.

This is one trip to the mall that will turn out positively for my bank account. I’m returning all the backup gifts I bought in case what I bought people wasn’t quite what they wanted. Most of it is plum-colored shirts for my son. I finally got him to put one on tonight, and then he agreed to keep two.

I’m wearing another mystery item. I was hoping I could treat it as a dress and wear red tights with it, but with those slits, there no way I’m doing that. I had a pair of black leggings with a small waistband, so that was that. I’m skirting (ha) the edge of acceptable length again, but I’m happy with it. Assecories: the usual purse + annex, a costume jewelry necklace, and a sparkly hair pin.

I think it works well as a tunic and I am definitely not one to wear leggings as pants. The glittery trim is great. Did you feel comfortable wearing it?

Looks nice. I think jeggings would be a good option to add to your wardrobe. Best of both worlds and one avoids the leggings/pants question...

Thanks, Anne and Shevia! Yes, I felt fine wearing what I had on. Maybe I ask here because one of my very first posts, of me in shorts with leg openings so wide it almost looks like a skirt, got mostly positive comments but a couple people thought they were too short, and there were several no votes. But I also ask on here because it’s easier than expecting people IRL to comment.
The trim is actually simpler than sparkles. It’s just narrow white stripes in the knit. Here’s a close-up.

Rachylou, maybe eventually, but I don’t see jeggings or even skinny jeans in my near future.

I think the length is fine, so long as you're OK with it when bending over, lol! Also the necklace is a nice touch, & ties it all together

I think this piece works well worn as a tunic with leggings! I wonder if it would also work with those bootcut leggings? I also really like the necklace, it brings a little lightness up from the hem.

I think the tunic with the black leggings and boots looks great! I do agree with Zaeboi that the length is good, but to keep in mind your comfort level if you need to bend over.
I have seen many outfits look great when standing, but not so great when bending over ( all outfits, not just tunics and leggings). I work in a school and bending over to work with kids is a part of what we do. Personally I would be very uncomfortable thinking about a hem rising too high, or a fabric stretching too thin on my backside. Yikes! Mirror checks before leaving the house and scooching whenever possible are a part of my world.

I think it looks great. You look incredibly comfortable and appropriate.

Zaeobi and Mainelady, I want my clothes to give me freedom to move around and do whatever I want to physically. Just walking around, I felt like this did that very well, but when I leaned into my car from standing outside to look underneath the seat, it would’ve been quite the view from the woods behind me if it hadn’t been dark out, lol. I wonder if that will keep me from reaching for this combo.

SarahD8, getting dressed, I rejected that combo in my head as too much volume on volume, but I should actually put it on and look.

Sterling, thanks! Your lemmings thread and the comments here have me thinking about the Rose jacquard pants at WHBM. They crossed my mind when I passed the store last night, but I was too tired to want to deal with it. I looked them up online when I got home. They are on sale, but not the crazy way they are in the store (of course, the store deal might require purchasing more items; I didn’t look closely). It looks like sizes are selling out, so I’d better make up my mind.

If I had one change to make, it's that I would love to see you in mermaid colors. I feel like you would rock an ocean blues-and-greens palette, with your long hair. Maybe try a necklace with some color and/or a scarf. (Or a bag, but I know you're a minimalist about bags).

LBD, Thanks! You are so positive. By mermaid you mean softer than the last outfit I posted, more like the palette at the end of your last WIWs? It is great with your auburn hair. I do have a green bag, but it probably isn't as soft a color as you're thinking of. Let me think a little...
