Trying Angie's Blouse and Converse Combo.

Hi Ladies,
I wore this thrifted silk blouse yesterday with slim jeans and thought I might try with my casual Sketcher shoe for a more dressed-down vibe.
I have also tried this with an even more flowy blouse but I was not sold on the juxtaposition of 'work-out' type shoes and dressier top.
Would this work better with a more fitted blouse?

You look super cute in all the shades of grey. I think I'd rather see a casual, but less gearish shoe with this, although the color looks fine. How about an athletic mary jane shoe or comfy oxfords or loafers?

Ooh I like this Lyn. That blouse is very pretty and teh colors very flattering. I am with Joy on the shoes though. I think a casual but less 'gearish' shoe would be nice. Having said that, this does look good and you are certainly fit for leaving the house

How do you feel in this? I had to fight the urge to change into ballet flats or an oxford

Thanks Joy-this was not my first choice of shoe but an attempt at trying a different look. I agree with you on the alternative shoe options.
Deb. I actually felt O.K. because the shoes are sooo comfy. But looking at this pic I probably wouldn't wear them again!

This is an interesting outfit Lyn and it prompted me to dig through the archives and search for the Angie's formula mentioned. I've obviously missed it while being away recently. So, after reading the post and seing it implemented, I feel inspired to try it myself, although my weather no longer allows cons I'll wait for the next spring.

For me it was a possible way to wear dressier tops in my casual life-style. I am glad it has given you some inspiration.

I really like the outfit but feel the shoes are a little too gearish, even though the color of them goes well. The blouse is perfect as is.

It's so funny how shoes are. I think these are no more casual than the Cons. But it's the Cons status as iconic shoes that makes them work, and probably also their white-toe crisp contrast look that gives them an edge. (Although of course if you had soft grey Cons that would look less contrasty - and would work really well with this fab outfit!)

I can't wear Cons myself (too flat for my feet) and pretty soon it will be boot weather here for me, but my plan it to translate this look and wear with my chisel toe Blundstones. They are a bit scuffed up and rough around the edges, and yet have that iconic flair I think the Cons have.

Lyn the comfort factor is pretty important and I think we do feel good when comfortable. Would you consider adding Cons or something similar to your wardrobe?

I actually prefer this look to Cons, and with your slim pants, this is a very fun and youthful look, especially with the silk blouse. Love your hair too, it's tousled just 'so' and the whole effect is very fetching!

The blouse looks just perfect to me! I like the pants and the topper too, really flattering fit.

I have been wearing this formula a lot but substituting flats or flat oxfords because I don't own Converse.

I think you are right Suz, the Cons. would be the way to go, my choice isn't 'out there' enough to read deliberate styling. Rather that it looks like I just grabbed the closest pair of shoes and wore them!:)
Deborah, I probably wouldn't buy Cons. but have considered Oxfords.
Claire, you are very sweet- my hair does what it wants, especially if there is moisture in the air!

I like this looser top with the jacket, the loose under fitted mix is lovely.

I really like this! The loose blouse under the structured jacket is great. And I actually love the unexpected casualness of the shoes. I think I prefer these to Cons here; I love the way the gray echos the soft colors in the top! Does not look at all like you grabbed the nearest shoes!
