Trouble with topper for semituck

This is my first WIW in a loooooonnggg time. You would think I would have been wearing more interesting outfits while furloughed, but no, I've been keeping a low profile. Today was in the mid 70s, so I wore this semitucked bootie outfit. First outing for the Report Marks finally found on ebay (score!)

Now that it's cooling off and I'm heading to watch my BF's softball game, I need a topper, but I can't find one that works with the semituck. I tried this fuschia linen blazer, but the sides were billowing out in an unattractive way. Then I tucked as seen below, but I don't think I like it any better. Is this a wardrobe hole for a longer topper?

I like how the semi-tuck works with your outfit! Not sure what to do about topper though -- I have moments of doubt too when styling semi-tucks. I think Ceit has some good advice here -- go cropped, or go long to cover the tails/give more balance. The hem of the blazer (gorgeous color BTW) falls at about the same level as the semi-tuck, so I think it is giving that area a bit more emphasis than you might like?

Maybe try smaller, multiple rolls for a more subtle look? Although I like your way too, it's edgy. It works well with just the top but with the jacket the big fold starts to get a little busy to my eye. Hope you don't mind the analysis. I like the topper.

Your outfit includes a number of things I love: jeans, Report Marks booties, a semi-tuck, and a fuchsia jacket. This spells perfection in my books.

But yes, I hear you on the problem with toppers. A longer one would solve the problem but sometimes I sort of finesse it by adjusting the degree of the semi tuck. While wearing the topper I tuck a bit more, and then I let it all hang out when the topper comes off. So to speak.

Love your outfit! I definitely like the semi-tuck on its own though I still dig the drapey tucked look!

I was experimenting with semi-tucking today since I'm a new semi-tucker myself. You are right: semi-tucking is challenging with a topper on. What I find looks decent is:

1) you tuck the whole thing but drape it all blousy/blouson like.
2) longer jacket

I think Ceit's idea of a crop jacket is great too. If you're hourglass or pear (or even a rectangle/hourglass), it's worth a shot. Being IT, I tend to avoid anything above my hips.

Denise, thanks for chiming in and the critique is welcome. I'd consider you an expert on this look.

For those who saw Denise's FFBO thread, I think I need a longer topper like the one she wore. I did try a bomber, but it was also about this same length. This may be a function of my long torso. Maybe I'll experiment with a cropped jacket. For the purposes of tonight, I went with the bomber and untucked completely
