Trendy jeans: what I did wear, may wear & a K/R

I have loved jeans since I was a little kid. I’m a child of the 60s & 70s, so I kind of feel like jeans are birthright. Until I started Jr High (7th grade) my mom would only allow to wear jeans to school once a week (gym day).
And until last year, I couldn’t wear jeans to work. So now I feel like I did back in jr high—freedom. And this year I’ve really embraced the fashion denim-& lucked out with finding a lot of good stuff-or at least what I think is good stuff- on sale.
1st up is a K/R. #1-4 Jcrew trouser jeans. I gad ordered the petite on line and they were hideously short! Wouldn’t even work barefoot. When I returned in store, they had the regular. Been a long time since I’ve worn anything but a skinny or straight full length. So I’m looking for some feedback. Fit? Length? I think they work with these booties & slides, but are too long for sneakers. PPL police do you agree?

Next up what I might wear. #5 Wide crops. Love the button front and the light color of these. Does the juxtaposition of trendy & preppy work, or should a wear them with a more trendy top?

What I did wear. #6, 8 &9 From this week and last High waisted straights, skinny’s & crops. (#7 is a mid-rise, uploaded that photo bu accident, but kept to show that not all jeans need to be super trending)

I like them all, with the exception of the wide crops. Nothing necessarily wrong with them, just not particularly flattering, in my terribly honest opinion. You are definitely slim and trim and wear jeans really well, but these leave me a little cold. Trouser jeans are great and the length looks good to me too.

As a long time jeans wearer, I'm really missing the ability to wear them every day and everywhere. I took on a new job in the summer, which has a strict no-jeans dress code, and I'm now down to wearing them on weekends, if I have somewhere to go. Miss them as a wardrobe staple!

I like the Veronica Beard ones a lot. The trouser jeans seem a good length, though perhaps with booties and not sneakers, but they seem maybe a little long in the rise for you. Hard to tell from the pic.

lisap...yes, i'm not sure what i would do if i had to go back to wearing jeans only on weekends....and yes i get it, the wide crops are not a leg lenghting as the rest, but they add a little something different to my usual silhouettes.
Angie...the white jeans are Sandro's from a couple of years ago. they are the softest jeans i have ever owned. yes, the sweater is from Boden, thanks for the vote of confindance on that look, and for adding the find. and as you can see, i've embraced the white boots.

I want to revise my comment about the button fly wide crops. My sense of what is flattering or not vis a vis this style is meaningless, and I should keep it to myself. It's a personal thing, and my eye just doesn't love the style on anyone. You do style them excellently here, as you do with everything you wear, and the fit is bang on .

lisap...no need to revise...i get what you were saying, in fact i said it to myself in the fitting room...but i'm trying to expand my repertoire, and for the longest time i would only wear things that i thought made me look taller (i'm a 5'4(ish))...but as i'm trying new things i'm learning to give up on that, a little, if the item gives me something else..

Yup - me too, and I get it. I don't care as much about looking taller through clothing ...a good heel takes care of that when I truly want it . And I would never have guessed you are "only" 5'4". You look much taller in photos!

Okay. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Jeans ARE your birthright!! You wear them better than almost anyone I've ever known with the exception of my friend Jeanette who is about 6 inches taller than you at least and a slim rectangle. How you look so fab in them at 5'4" is a constant mystery. But you do.

I love them all, in short, but my absolute faves are 5 and 9. Unlike Lisa I adore the crops on you and love this outfit with the dressy white boots and preppy sweater. Fun! Also love the flares (are they a bit long in the rise? Or maybe try a size down for comparison?) And the white high rise straights.

My favourite are the white jeans and the flares with boots - the sneakers are not quite right but I am still adjusting to this look to be honest.......

And I like the mid rise too - a true classic in my opinion.

I think they all look great. I only wish I wore so many jean styles as well as you do! Oh, the irony that I have the freedom to wear them every day of my life, but so few styles actually look decent on me.

All great and very trendy (flare hems are made for heels, sorry, to say but nr 3 will not really work) and I'm in awe about nr 5!!!! And still love nr 7, too!:-)

I was a child of the seventies and eighties and love my jeans also.

On the trouser jeans (no. 1), although I like the overall cut of the jeans, I wish they were a little skinnier through the thigh, because there is a little poof of fabric that you can see on the outside thigh (your right thigh) when you are facing the camera. I like the shape of the flare, though. It seems like most of what is available right now is cropped flares, and it makes it hard to get the right length, IMO. I prefer these flares with a heel.

On the wide crops, I would vote for a trendier top. Maybe try tucking a top to show off the high waist? Good for you for trying something outside of your comfort zone. I'm doing the same thing, though with straight crops.

LOVED the pink and white outfit. I like the low contrast. The jeans are sublime. Thanks for sharing the find. I love the other outfits too, but the pink one was my fave.

Great jeans capsule. I looove the trouser jeans. But, definitely need a heel. I'm your height so I have the same issues with PPL.

But that would be kind of limited, I guess. I love your preppy/trendy juxtaposition with the pullover and button fly wide-legs.
