I'm working through the Fall & Winter 2017 shows as prep work for my trend report that comes out in Sept. You can see the directional looks I'm pinning along the way. It's a LOT of work, and I've only just started:

But some of the trends are crystal clear - although it will take a while (years) - for the newer ones to filter through to mainstream (and only some of them will). Here are the tidbits:

  1. TALL boots (knee-high)
  2. Dresses and skirts (worn with tall boots)
  3. Pant suits
  4. Full length trousers (lots of floor grazing pants)
  5. Maximalism
  6. Absence of Athleisure
  7. Modern Retro
  8. Mid-Section belting
  9. Sneakers

I feel on track with two new pairs of tall boots in my wardrobe - one casual and one dressy. One ink blue (bought in London last year), and one black (bought at the NAS last month). See Finds.

REMEMBER: Things do not change overnight. It takes years for runway trends to have an impact on the rest of the world. Fashion fads do not exist. Trends last between 5 to 15 years. Some even longer. Some vibes never go out of style, but a current version of the look is important. Vintage items work - but only with a good dose of Modern.
