Tomorrow we leave for a short break over Easter and following week to visit the family and some old friends.
My packing strategy had been influenced by several things:
- What I've leant the last time on the trip of similar kind
- Suz's London trip capsule
- Parsley's Paris travel capsule
- Zap's fantastic advice (via Suz's post trip thread) to pack the coat
Quick recap of my old learnings
- Good jacket/blazer. It gives instant polish to anything.
- Top/blouse cheerful color. I do love and need my bold and cheerful colors.
- White top/blouse. This makes me feel refreshed instantly.
- Patterned top. Stripes, to be more specific. I prefer solids, but not even patterned scarves were enough the last time to make me not feel bored.
- Option for different silhouettes.
It had all boiled down to this:
1. I always start with color scheme, so neutrals + color/s that all mix and match. This time the choice is red, black and navy (white too). Actually, these are all neutrals.
2. Red jacket - kills two birds at once, I have jacket and color in one.
2a. (optional) Leather jacket - If I get lucky and the weather gets better, this might be the only topper I'll need. I'll only bring this because I have a luxury of the carboot but more because I can't wait to wear it again.
3. Fit&Flare coat that I can layer over the jacket - I would have never thought of trying these two I am bringing together had it not been for eye-opening advice about the coats on trips. Thanks Zap and thanks Suz for pointing it out. And given the temperatures in Europe I might need to layer heavily.
4. The new jeans. I can't wait to wear them and break them in. Jeans are the staple of travel wardrobe for me, so no explanations are needed.
5. My new sheath dress. LBD, comfortable, option for different silhouette, need I go on.
6. (optional) Black knitted skirt - to travel in. For even more lightweight wardrobe, I'd leave it out, as the dress covers the need for different silhouette, but the skirt leaves the tops I have more visible.
7. Selected accessories and comfortable footwear to cover all occasions and my daily schedules.
I hope I'll be able to photograph some outfits, I can't figure out where, when or how, but I too am keen to see all these pieces in action and lined up.
Once again, thank you to everyone who posts their capsules, those threads are so educational. I hope mine will be of help to others too.
