Tough- Boho or is that Boho-Tough? 5.16wiw

Good lord. 3 posts in a row. Ugh. Now I can slink back into my corner for another 2 months

Someone - maybe ElizabethP used the term "tough boho" the other day and it stuck. I like it - perfect mix of pretty and tough. I actually wore this out today on some work-related errands (although not calling on any customers) despite the mega ripped jeans. And can I tell you about this jacket? Well, Friday night I'm killing 10 minutes waiting for my take-out dinner order to be ready, so I go into the hair salon/spa/boutique place next door to poke around. I am an occasional client there, so felt ok doing so. I found this olive knit fringy jacket - marked down about 3 times from $280 to.........$39. Yes. So I asked what the situation was with this jacket - i.e. why?? Answer: " well, it's been here since last fall" . It fits like a dream, feels like a dream, and is my dream colour. Not sure I would have spent $280 on it, but definitely would have paid more than $39- lol.

So - in the spirit of boho-tough, wore it with my favourite white super-distressed jeans (that don't stay up though - drives me nuts) , a new Aritizia gauzy boho top, and my Freebird Quails. Dragonfly necklace and olive bag. Loved wearing this! Switched to my go-to colours for summer: orange/peach toned lipstick and brown/bronze eye makeup and face bronzer.

Thoughts, comments, always welcome! Oh, and yes, in an ideal world, the jeans should be shorter with these sandals, but I'm not about to cut them just for that.

This is uber-cool and the jacket is the perfect color for your eyes. What a find! I love the fringe bits with the tough chick shoes. You rock. I'm not boho in the least but I can totally embrace the way you've pulled this together.

I love this whole look. Love the color of the jacket and the Coach bag! Wish I had your eye for pulling things together. The sandals and the blouse I would have chosen myself but the jacket I would have completely overlooked--and apparently a lot of other people ignored it. But look how great it looks on you! It pulls the whole outfit together.

I love the jacket. Your outfit gives me an idea of how to style a metallic leather moto I've only worn once or twice. Whenever I put it on it seems wrong, even though I love it so much.

Another winning outfit! (Keep them coming too.) I just love the color story and polished boho-tough vibe. The jacket is a perfect fit and really, really cool. The texture and subtle fringe really work so nicely with the moto style. You find the coolest stuff in the most obscure places. I mean who shops for clothing while picking up take out?

Great jacket, and I like the combination of tough and a little floaty/boho/pretty. I figured that out by pairing my orange print boho-ish top with my cobalt leather jacket -- I feel way more fab in that top WITH the jacket than without.

The dragonfly is great -- I have a dragonfly necklace that was my mom's, but it's much smaller.

And now I have another brand to check out in jackets!

You know something? It's being on YLF for almost 2 years now that has made me into a better shopper. I'm taking the opportunity to look in odd places (sale racks) , consider things I may not have , and to try things on. I didn't even expect the jacket to fit it looked so small. And now I've got another brand I'm interested in and can look for. Also, I am a lot more patient than I was even 6 months ago and something about not feeling agitated and annoyed half the time (work, family , other stressors) makes shopping a lot more pleasant. Plus, I now know I don't have to settle. That's the biggest thing. Glad you all like the look - I do too, and it's a bit unexpected. I think I may take this tough boho thing a little further for summer.

What a fabulous jacket for you! It looks as if it fits like a dream and is probably comfortable, too.

You know, so much is in the styling here. The distressed jeans are unexpected with a jacket this "dressy" and with the feminine blouse. You have innate talent at this and know how to integrate your new pieces with the older ones.

The "tough boho" descriptor really appeals to me too. I first saw it in UmmLila's post the other day. Love that colour combination of black, white and olive. I've said it before but I'll say it again that I think of olive as black for summer if you like a tougher look. The jacket is a real score and I love the way you have put everything together. I am going to revisit this post come spring as I am definitely going to have another think about white jeans. My feelings about them really wax and wane, but I love the way you are wearing them here.

The sandals are probably the most comfortable shoe I own with a heel. Mind you , I don't have a problem with high heels that are sturdy , or with a high wedge - it's all in the structure. It's just stilettos I can't walk in anymore This is a really thick, fat heel. And the footbed is the softest leather, with a slight bit of padding. I can easily wear these all day.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments - I really do love olive and it's such a perfect summer colour, as Brooklyn reminds us. It looks great with both brights and neutrals - and I am now thinking about finding a pair of some chunky olive leather sandals, if such a thing exists.

Chris - Unode50 is a Spanish line , handmade there , and distributed in NA out of NYC. From what I gather , it's available in the odd department store (in Canada at Hudson Bay - a very small part of the line though) and is sold through independent retailers in many countries. The pieces are silver plated (over a metal alloy) or , gold. I recently took on the line through the new company I am working for - and found myself digging through a massive collection of samples looking for some pieces to wear. Most of it is far too "Spanish/Western" looking for my tastes, but there are quite a few pieces I am enjoying .
