Tops galore--EDITED with pics

I nipped down to the outlets this morning to return a dress to the AT outlet. Came home with half a dozen tops--a few sleeveless knits and a few polyester sleeveless wovens (from the BR outlet.) Did Angie say that it was blouse season and that we were given permission to stock up?

I threw these on with summer bottoms. I look tired, don't I? Shopping is hard work.

1: AT Outlet sleeveless knit knotted empire top. This is the kind of loose basic that gets me through the summer. This replaces my solid black from last year.

2: AT Outlet knitted drape front top. I'll probably only wear this one layered under a cardi. I like the color but the sleeves--not so much.

3-7: BR Outlet woven polyester tanks. 5/6 is has a PB tie in the front. Shown untucked and tucked. This one is probably my least fave.( I'm probably going to return the skirt in 6 too.)

8: Limited short sleeve button down shirt. Has some built in stretch so it's very comfy and roomy in the shoulders. Not sure it's really me though. I keep thinking I need a white button down but I'm not exactly sure why.

9: BR Outlet cotton tee for lazy summer days. I love this.

10: Cotton gauze top from TJ Maxx.

So, how did I do? Are there any that scream "return me" to you?

I usually come home empty handed when I go blouse shopping. It was quite overwhelming. AT Outlet had store wide 40% off and BR outlet was 20-70% off plus I had a 15% discount coupon. I definitely could have used YLF in the dressing room with me. I'll have to see what works with what and post some pics.

I haven't been to the outlet stores for ages. I used to buy stuff at the Ann Klein store and Kenneth Cole. Would you mind doing a bit of a review and telling us which are the best for YLF?

After you show off your tops, of course.

@Susan: I'm not a big outlet shopper but it is on the way to Costco so I stop every now and again. DH likes KC--they have some nice stuff in there. I rarely find anything there though. I like checking out Ann Taylor Factory store; Banana Republic Outlet; JCrew on occasion but they're usually still too pricey for me; Nine West is fun to look at but I try not to go there because I don't need anymore shoes; AT Loft opened down there but I was totally overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of stuff in there; MaxStudio is nice but seems a bit pricey. That's my take on the outlets in a nutshell : ) DD's like Aeropostale and the new F21.

Ooh! I especially love 1, 3, and 7 on you , but they all look really cute! If you keep 5, I prefer it untucked. You are ready for warm weather!

Kelly, I like the first and the last one the best. I agree with you about the 5/6. 3, 4 and 7 all have a similar silhouette and are polyester. If you summers are hot I'd be inclined to return something from that group.

I think 8 needs an under-layer to make it look brighter and to hide the folded seams, so that is something to consider.

Wow - you have some great blouses here! I looked at the pictures before I read all of your comments and FWIW (which may be little since I'm new to this!) I thought the entire outfit in #6 was really stunning on you...it's definitely dressier than the others, but really flattering (I thought!).

I think my two favorites with the shorts are #1 and #10 - #1 seems like it would be really versatile - layered under a jacket or just on its own and #10 is just too cute!

#8 is my favorite; beautiful crisp and white and the proportions are excellent! I love top #5 tucked in more :p

I do adore F21; perhaps your DD could come shopping with me I need a shopping buddy!

Looks like you did very well! I especially love #1, 9 and 10. I have a shirt similar to #8 which I had planned to wear in "spring" but haven't yet. I like the way you've styled it here, great safari-type look! I think it's worth keeping I also rather like 5, and like Rae prefer it untucked; does it work with a belt? That could be another fun option for it. Nothing screams "return me!" to me but as I've said I'm pretty new to blouses and don't really "get it" yet so, ya know

Kelly, you may not wish me to post as it sounds like you are returning my fav! I cheated and looked at pretty you, first (before reading the commentary); and, number 6 as a total package was my absolute favorite outfit and silhouette on you! All you need is a sweet little metallic (silver or pewter maybe?) belt and some jewelry: BOOM! Smokin! The neckline and tucking make you look so tall. Looking at that blouse in photo 5 it looks too large for you, though? Perhaps this is the cause for dislike? The skirt is fab and will play well with all the other pieces you purchased.

All the rest are total keepers, and I am happy to know you own that blouse in photo 8. I adore a camp shirt.

Wow, Kelly, I can't believe you hauled all of that in one fell swoop. You lucky gal! OK, here's my take on things. I love 1, 2, 4, 7. I think 3, 9, and 10 are close behind and are also keepers. I agree that 5/6 is not so flattering - something about the neckline and the way it drapes in front, and 8 looks like the sleeves are too big around - I think you could do better. My absolute faves are 1 and 4. Great job!

Kelly, you'll be cool and classy all summer in these tops. Nice haul!

FWIW, #8 is my least favorite. I don't think you need a button down with all these other great tops you've found. Besides, it's awfully similar to #10 from a distance, but 10 to me is more summery and flattering to your shape.

Also, I think all #5/6 needs to be a keeper is some nipping on the sides and a shorter hem. (But of course the polyester issue does need to be considered...IIRC you are also in TX, right? I have pretty much nixed all poly for myself, though it's hard since there are so many cute polyester tops right now!)

And finally, since no one has said it yet on this thread: Lord, your legs are amazing!

I absolutely love #1, #3 and #8. #1 is SO flattering to you (and I am going to hunt it down in Hawai'i!). #9 looks a little big on you to me. I am not loving the shoulder line on #2, although I think it would work under a jacket. Admitting a bias, I'm not a fan of tops like #5/6 in general, so no comment there. The others are nice, but the ones I've mentioned were the ones that jumped out for one reason or another. I admire you bringing it all home to try on!

Hard to pick a favorite. I like #2 the least, but maybe it's just the photo. Or the texture. I think it would work well under a jacket or another layer though.

Thanks for the report on the outlet stores. I keep meaning to drive down there. I used to go a lot when that was the closest In 'n Out before they finally expanded into Silicon Valley. (You can tell our family started out in So Cal--DH's family moved there just as the first In 'n Out opened.) Anyway, I don't have the shopping energy I used to have, so I like to zero in on the most likely stores.

What a fab haul!
First of all, #6 is KILLER!
I think all the tops are nice, but my faves are 1,3,5,7 and 8.
If you are looking to narrow down your selection, I think you could live without 2 and 3.
I think all the white tops probably have a purpose in your wardrobe, but my fave was #8.

I really need to get myself down to the outlets. I tend to get overwhelmed though in that kind of setting. Maybe I need someone to hold my hand

I love you in #1, #2/#7 (they seem very similar so one or the other), #3, #9, #10.

Don't keep #8 if you aren't sure you'll wear it. I'm another "hard to fit upper body into shirts but feeling the pressure to keep trying" person. I have a small assortment of them, thinking that the next one will be the one I wear. . .ha!

#5 isn't on my list because it's either too big, or that specific halter isn't working with your strong shoulder line.

I wish we had outlets close enough to check out. We have a nice one, but it's 45 minutes away in a direction I never go.

YLF to the rescue! Thanks so much for all of your helpful comments. I was feeling totally overwhelmed by my haul and wasn't sure how to narrow them down. I feel like I've got a pretty good grasp now and can make my returns without regret! I'm off to soccer but I'm going to comment some more later. I just wanted you all to know how helpful you've been. I think I was dreaming about sleeveless tops last night!

This is quite a large selection--yay for spring shopping! My faves are 1, 2, 3, 7, and 9. I like 5 and 10 too, just not quite as much as the first 5 I mentioned. 4 and 8 are my least favorite, at least compared to the others.

I love all of them except for the pussy bow blouse, only because I think it looks a bit big on you. Did you try the size down?
