Tops for skirt - YouLookFab Forum

Now that I know I'm keeping the VC striped tube skirt (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....tube-skirt) I'm wondering about tops. I do have a few options based on my "test" stylings but during that exercise realized I honestly do not have one single sleeveless solid colored drapey blouse that I can wear with this skirt. Being that I'm hoping to wear it ASAP and through the heat into the fall, I'm wondering if it makes any sense to buy a couple of colored tops (cobalt for example) to maximize my wearing of the skirt? I wasn't planning on buying anything more for summer but I have noticed this wardrobe hole before. A colored sleeveless blouse could also be worn with my other pencil skirts and my casual denim skirt as well. Plus summer sales are on now.

The only sleeveless tops I currently have to wear with this skirt is my black tiered one and the sequined black one for dressy. I don't think the bluish-grey one worked with the skirt, and I haven't yet tried my patterned yellow-white one. The other toppers I have that do work are heavier weight and will be great on cooler days, but I'm thinking more of the heat.

What do you think?

I have almost all plain (and very few patterned).

In all seriousness, if you want to buy a few on sale, why not? Just try to make sure they will also make outfits with a few other skirts or bottoms.

I think it makes sense, but only if you aren't just buying to make the skirt work. If they are tops that will also work in your summer capsules, then I think it is a good purchase.

As a matter of fact, I am passing by Joe Fresh after work today. They have a sleeveless tank top for $29.00 that is 100% silk. They do have it in a lot of colors: Royal blue, pink, red, orange...
I picked up three already, I'm going to get a couple more. I will be more than happy to buy them and ship over to you. They are such a great deal for 100% silk!

I think you should also. I purchased some basic slub ts from Joe Fresh in white, navy, sky blue this season and have worn them constantly. Because I am at home these work. I think Zaps idea for the silk version would be perfect for work. I haven't seen them at the JF here but they might have them in your store. I would consider navy, black and cobalt. I have to complete the enablement process

Suz & Ceit - I definitely would not buy something that would work only with this skirt and I'm going to go through my closet to see what other possibilities I might already have. I might even be able to thrift one or two if I decide to look.

VC - unfortunately none of the CM links worked but I can go on their website and look. Most times even the large in CM doesn't fit me though. I find they fit a little on the small side but maybe some of their looser fit styled tops would work. Thanks.

Chiming back into say that Loblaws has no tax today and tomorrow. However, ours here doesn't have any silk and it is a pretty big store. I could be that the concept store has some.

I am definitely looking to add one or two solid short-sleeved tops to my wardrobe specifically to wear with the VC tube skirt. I am planning to post photos later today for K/R but mine are from Nordstrom so not really that helpful for you. I had to return mine because of armhole gaping but the black top would have been perfect for the VC skirt.

I say go for one or at most 2 at good prices, but don't overduplicate. Ideally try to find the most different from what you've got, that still goes with your other items, so you get maximum wardrobe "freshening".

I love sleeveless shells and blouses and wear them under sweaters and jackets all year long. I would think this would be a great time to knab one on sale.

Ack! Sorry my links didn't work - I wonder if it's that I accidentally posted links to the US Club Monaco site, and when you go and look - it recognizes that you're in Canada?

After posting, I doubled back and tried to find some of the same tops on Club Monaco's Canada site - and the offerings were different. That said, the sale is still on with the Canada site - 40% off all sale items until July 22nd. There might be some nice tops there to try with your striped VC midi skirt.

That said, after seeing Zap's latest post of her WIW's for a week, I'm totally going with Joe Fresh - love those silk tank-like tops!

In the meantime, don't forget that even if you buy some solid colour sleevless blouses or tops (for summer) just to wear with this skirt, they will still come in handy later on in the fall or even winter too - with a topper of course. Solid-colour sleeveless tops are a useful item to have, no matter what the season is.
