Too beige? A keep or return...

I ordered this wool pullover that I already have in a soft cool green and rich purple in a colour called "beige". Sounds dangerous, right? But on my screen the colour looked more taupe than beige and it was 50% off. I wear my other two pullovers A LOT and thought a light neutral colour might be nice to have. It looks a bit big here, but it's the same size as my other two and I know it will shrink to a good relaxed fit in the wash. But is it too beige? It's a very low contrast to my natural coloring. When I put it on the first thing I did was go and add some lip colour. I'd describe the colour as taupe/beige with a hint of pink...

What do you think? Is it a keeper? Or should it go back?

I cut the tags, it's going to stay. I really like the way it looks with some of my scarves and I might even wear it on its own. I do think it's JFE. Thanks everyone for your input!

I don't think it does you any favors. I think you'd look better with color near your face.

Maybe it is not your very best color -- but it looks fine! And the fact that it's both neutral in color and clean of line means it will pair well with accessories that bring color near your face.

Thanks for the input everyone. I have to say because this is a wool pullover I'd be fine to wear a scarf with it more often than not. Colorwise it seems to play well with the scarves I wear most often, see above and below. I know that the color isn't my best, but if you think it's JFE that would be alright.

Just wanted to add that this isn't an investment pullover, it would set me back 24€. Not that this should influence my decision.

It is hard to tell from photo -- but, to me, the color reads more taupe than beige. I think it would work just fine as a neutral for you. Looks fabulous with the scarves.

Thanks El Cee. The color is hard to photograph, it looks quite different depending on light and angle. The first pics were taken in natural light, but no sun (it's super cloudy outside).

It works really well with your scarves, and your style of muted colours. I would get it.
Did you put lipstick on to take the pics? Your lips look really naturally red, and so the sweater looks good on you, even without a scarf, imo. Also, your hair seems quite a lot darker now, so you're not that low-contrast.

I like it best with the scarves. I think it's okay but maybe not your best color. The real question is if you want three pullovers in the exact same style? If the answer is yes, then I would ask if the color is one that you would reach for as frequently because the other two are still going to be sitting there, or would you favor those over this one?

I'm with smittie...it makes a nice change. It will look good with many of your darker, muted and neutral clothes and your jeans. The scarves compliment it very well and I think you'll find it a versatile colour Astrid.

Thanks Smittie! I'm wearing some Clinique Chubby Stick in the pics, so my lips aren't naturally that red. The colour is "Super Strawberry", which almost matches my natural lipcolour, just more intense. I like it for everyday. And I have ash blonde hair which can look quite dark when the sun isn't out. I also had a lot of blonde highlights in it a few weeks back that are completely grown out again, so that might contribute too.

Staysfit, I love the style because it's so easy - just throw it on over jeans and sneakers and you're done. I've worn my green one constantly over the last few months. I wear the purple mostly at home, it has become almost part of my lounge wear capsule. Mostly because I'm otherwise favouring burgundy right now. Because this a neutral I don't think I'd have a problem with duplicating. I can see this one with my red boots for example, I prefer to keep the rest of the outfit less colorful when I wear them.

Thanks Deb! Agree, it's a change from all the navy, dark grey and muted darks. I think I'm leaning towards keeping it.

Not too beige at all but rather a very nice neutral. This fall/winter I adopted a uniform of sorts with merino wool sweaters and jeans. I purchased three of the exact same crew neck sweaters in different colors because I really like the first one.

I like beige and taupe, yes it is difficult to style, I mean difficult color near face, but I vote to keep it, nice pullover and scarf will solve all problems if there are.

Colette, that sounds like a great look - I'm definitely pro uniform! Why change something that works for you?

Definitely taupe and it looks great with the scarves. I'd like to try a similar color now that my hair is more gray, if I could find one.

I think a scarf helps immensely.

I think it is a great color even w/o scarf. More than JFE. I find having one or 2 of " my" light neutrals very useful for both adding variety and for versatility. What I have tried to do is be picky about which ones and about my other colors or prints so they will go with them too.
