You are onto something with the prep thing - maybe this needs to be more shrunken or have some built-in edge to it. Have time to play this morning so will be experimenting to see if I can come up with three outfits that make me happy....

As far as the plaid jacket, dang it, I would be all over it if the green stripes were cut vertically. Diana has a great point. We like British preppy!

I like your original outfit without the cardi, for sure. I can see where your current style would call for a structured jacket on top.

Lukewarm on the plaid. I'm sure you could make it UWP, but I think it would take more effort than perhaps it would be worth.

I like outfits 1 and 2. Outfit 3, that blazer is lovely but I think something with more edge (ragged edging, metal studs, a zigzag silohuette) is more your style.
