Today was the visitation for my father-in-law, who passed on Tuesday. He was 95 years old. A hard worker, farmer and carpenter, who was the most loyal family man I’ve ever known. My husband and I were there with his mom when Dad died. It wasn’t hard, as everyone was ready. Mom told someone the next day, “I’m okay, and so is Dad.” Everyone will miss him, but he had a good, long life and finally time wore him out.

Tomorrow is the funeral church service, interment service and luncheon. I’ll wear a cream and black polka dot blouse, black cardigan with pleated peplum, black pants, and probably black Chelsea boots, since we will go out to the grave.

I am glad I’ve kept suitable classic pieces around. And I also was happy that the last few days were made easier because of my outfit planning, including pre-hanging tops and sweaters together in my closet. This allowed me super fast dressing when we were called to the nursing home a few times in the last week.

Today I didn’t wear the cardigan much, as it was warm in the funeral home. The gray sweater has 3/4 sleeves, so it was comfortable.

Thanks for reading.
