Way back in the 60's, Ellen Tracy was a blouse manufacturer. Then, in the 70's, it was a juniors line. Then, in the 90's early 2000, it was a bridge line, more expensive than better, like Jones New York, but not designer. It used to hang with Dana Buchman. Now DB is a Kohls line and ET is licensed all over the place...I have two ET coats., where I work we carry ET hosiery and sleepwear. So another example of leaving no retail stone unturned. That suit looks great on you, you styled it perfectly, that's the kind of thing I'd buy in more than one color, if they had it.

The suit looks great Lisa! The blazer in particular, I love that notched collar design. Also loving that shade of pink lipstick with this. Feels nice and fresh and springy!

I wouldn't say "rut" for myself, but also currently dressing more casually than I usually do for work. Mainly due to my best fitting bottoms currently being jeans which I used to wear only a couple times a week. Getting my white jeans updated should help a lot. In the meantime trying to spread out my blue jean wears (which I also used to not really have) and sprinkle the black/charcoal/waxed jeans along with dresses, trousers (wish I had more that fit right now!) and winter shorts in there. It can be a challenge to keep up with the smarter end of "smart casual" when you don't really have a dress code! Too easy to slide back to casual-casual.

(For photos using phones, I like to hold mine out to the side and angle inwards a bit. Takes a little shuffling to fit in frame if you have a narrow mirror but it looks like you've got plenty of room.)

I think this is so you, and complete outfit success. The suit is very sharp. Nice fit in the shoulders. You look professional, polished, and effortless really. Many fluevogs look kooky, but you managed to avoid those ones

Thanks Aida - I fumble and shuffle a bit, but haven't quite got it yet - I'll try this next time! The more I think about getting stuck in a casual rut, I realize just because the workplace in general has become casualized, I don't have to. I work in sales, and don't really have to be suited up, which is why I wore jeans half the winter (also because they were the only pants that fit) , but I've decided to buck that trend and get dressed up again. You are absolutely dead right that it's too easy to keep sliding further into the casual look - cue the jeans again - and even a year ago, I'd have died rather than be going to sales appts wearing jeans. Not any more !

Ha - smittie - a lot of women in the publishing field seem to like the really kooky Minnie Mouse type Fluevogs . I can't quite wrap my head around wanting to look like a cartoon character, but , they probably can't wrap their collective heads around anyone wanting to wear skull printed things , so.......

Lisa you look fabulous and no weight issue that I can see!!

The combination of the suit with that wonderful T and fantastic shoes is perfection!!

Great suit - stylishly put together. Shoes killer!

Pulled myself out of the rut a couple of weeks ago when Angie proclaimed 'thou shalt shop' or miss out on the good stuff for summer! LOL! Actually that (and a 17 deg.C day with SUN!) was a bit of a wake-up call that Spring really was around the corner.

Guess what I bought during a little weekend splurge? A pants suit and a crisp white button down. Been wearing the heck out of them all month, and feeling so much more 'the thing!'

Love it! And want that t-shirt!!!!

Wow. I love this. I have a soft spot for suits but this is cool chic suit - so not stuffy corporate. Marking as a favorite so I can try to be in the cool kids club someday too

The suit definitely "suits" you, Lisap! I love the tee shirt, too, and your boots are awesome. Yay spring dressing!

Stunning on you! Love the cut of the jacket esp. in concert with those fabulous shoes. I know what you mean about 'Vogs, but these ones are gorgeous. Also, the tee is perfect on you!

I am still not baring ankles but wearing booties again!! WHOO, spring must really be coming!!! I put the puffer away!!

The suit is excellent and you have styled it perfectly. Glad Aida piped up with a response to the selfie issue too.

Lol, Suz - our snow is almost all gone ! It was 15 today:) We had the oddest winter . I haven't had my warmest parka or jackets on for the last 3 weeks now. It's even supposed to thunderstorm tonight - in March!!! The world is going crazy....

What a great outfit. You wear a suit with such style, Lisa. I really love those Fluevogs on you. I am not a fan of them for myself, either, but there are a few styles that really do grab me--I like fierceness without the flake, and yours have that appeal for me.

Yes, love this on you. There is too much of a slide happening and we need to reclaim some style. And yours remains edgy while you do it!

Lisa, your suit is fab and can be styled in so many different ways! You look amazing, and I don't see any weight gain. You own this suit look. I love Fluevogs, but mostly admire without buying as I find them hard to integrate into my wardrobe. But yours are a perfect way to keep a suit look on the edgier side.

And yes, I hear you on winter dressing coziness. I have been cocooning all season in baggy sweaters and leggings, which has led to some weight creep. Like you, I had a hankering yesterday for a more business style. Since none of my work trousers fit, I ventured out in a skirt--and was freezing!

I thought Winnipeg was supposed to be the coldest place in the universe but it seems that title should now be bestowed on Ottawa. Still tons of snow here, dreary, and only 2C out. Warm enough for booties, but too cold for a leather jacket.

Carla - I haven't quite ventured into button-down territory yet, but you never know Glad to hear I'm not the only one craving a bit of dressing up again. Aliona - a skirt? Now that's just crazy-talk Just teasing - I'm looking forward to wearing my dresses again too ! Sharan - thanks, and I love the fierceness without the flake idea - haha.

Hi Lisa --

The fit on the suit is so great on you -- really proof that a good fit makes everything look more expensive. The cropped length definitely takes it out of the trad corporate world -- plus emphasizes how long your legs are.

Like the pairings and am kind of amazed you found such (relatively) sedate-cool Fluevogs.

Sorry to chime in so late but I had to tell you that I love the suit on you! Actually, I love it all including the nude fishnets. You make a suit look elegant and cool. I absolutely love dressing up and wearing a suit is my favorite thing to wear. I'm the person that cringed when business attire went to business casual. And I'm so uncool, I never heard of Fluevogs before YLFl

Colette - John Fluevog is a Canadian shoe designer, now known internationally. A great majority of his footwear is way too out there for me - really exaggerated Minnie Mouse looks with curved heels, round toes, piping, etc etc. But the quality is superb - and the shoes are worth every $ when you can find a pair you like

And thanks for the comment - glad you like dressing up too!
