I went into a couple of stores today to try on jeans. I am enamored with the Mother skinny jeans I have, and I wanted to try on some different styles in the brand, including boyfriends and new styles. As to new styles, I was curious about cropped styles, higher rises, wide legs--some of the styles that have been discussed and shown here on YLF.

I loved the Mother cropped bootcut jeans in a dark wash that I tried on (sorry, no photos, but here's a link to them). And I kind of liked the boyfriends, but I needed a different size than what was available to try.

Instead of getting the cropped bootcuts, though, I came home with a pair of slim boyfriend jeans by Citizens of Humanity. The super fit, the light-medium wash, and the lack of distressing won me over (I liked them better than the Mother version, even if I had tried those in my size). I haven't taken the tags off, but I'm inclined to keep them. Still, I wanted to see what you all think. One slight concern is that boyfriend jeans are maybe too has-been. I have two pairs of blue boyfriend jeans currently--one that I put on the other day and resolved to banish from my closet, because I just don't like them anymore. The other pair I still like, more out of sentimentality for the pocket design and fabric than anything else; to be honest, I don't think they do me any favors, and they don't look especially chic.

Now that I've tried cropped bootcuts and like them, I know I will get some soon, but I have a pair of jeans that I may try cropping myself first. And I can't just make a pair of awesome boyfriend jeans from existing stock in my closet. Does that sound like good reasoning to you?

Here are the photos, for your consideration and musings:
1-3: new boyfriend jeans (Citizens of Humanity, Emerson slim boyfriend, in Pacifica); blue and taupe floral surplice tee (made by me); taupe shredded cashmere shrug (made by me); brown and black studded belt (Suzi Roher); brown metallic booties (Donald Pliner, Tilly).

4: old boyfriend jeans (Fidelity), in an outfit worn two years ago. (These are the ones I'm still hanging onto, not the ones I'm banishing.)

5-7: what I wore shopping. Dark bootcut jeans (Hudson, Beth baby bootuts).

It's kind of a keep or return post, but mostly, a sanity check (inclined to keep--but what do you think?). Thanks for looking and commenting! I appreciate your wisdom.
