Well, more like magenta, but you get the idea!

A couple of days ago, I received this marvelous squishy package from north of the border, filled with a gorgeous ponte dress from Thistle!

Now, I've been bemoaning the fact that I sat out NAS and have had to slash my fall fashion budget to fund my upcoming trip out West. A new dress for the start of my teaching year was one of the casualties (no worries --- I've still got a smaller refresher list). How wonderful to receive such a beautiful gift that fits so perfectly!

I wore this for Sunday morning, fulling giving in to its classic, Kate Middleton vibe. I paired it with my nude pumps and a statement necklace. I even wore classic hair (well, my hair had air dried the night before, so I had little choice).

Sunday turned into a bit of a marathon, so this dress served duty during an unplanned meeting and a girls' lunch (Thai food!). I felt polished and comfy. The waist is high, but deliberately so, and the fit is easy, with darts well placed. the length is perfect for a dress like this.

It was hot and I was tired when I returned home and took pics -- but I did pair it briefly with a different necklace and my tortoiseshell pumps -- a good look for work on those warm September days. I also tried it with pumps and a burgundy sweater for a more casual look. I wish the sweater were a bit shorter, but it has some potential, I think. I would also wear this with a jacket and boots for cooler days, but the jacket will need to be short and fitted.
