Where do I have to move to wear this year round?! Because I love these looks but there are maybe three days out of the year when I could do them in Austin. The one I could *maybe* pull off is the last one, without scarf, and in linen pants. For part of the summer.

As stupid as my husband thinks this is, my heart is actually breaking right now.

This reminds me of when we moved to Ireland 10+ years ago and I kept buying summery clothes thinking - with my South European brain - I'll wear them all the time, like when summer comes. Like, it will be so hot in Ireland. Zero chance. I ended up cramming it all in the suitcases for holidays only, hoping to wear it all then at least once.

Ooh, I love all of these and I can totally see you in them. I am sorry the weather wouldn't cooperate. The last look might work sans scarf - how about looking for the sleeveless version of that shirt?

Hmm, not here. Our springs are too chilly, and then we do get a month or so of warm but not hot, but then our actual summer is too humid and hot to wear all that outside. Inside in A/C you'd be fine all summer here. You'd get a few weeks in fall I guess too!

Greece? Once the heat of the day was over (although I was wearing linen long sleeved tunics and heavy trousers and boots while working), I wore pretty much those exact outfits all afternoon and evening when I was doing my fieldwork in Greece

Maybe you could catch a week here and there in Boston where those would be doable. At this point with our wacky weather, I'm not even sure anymore.

I love those looks and will bookmark. Do you know anything about those sandals? They're making me drool.

These are great looks, and they seem very much like what you already wear -- just different fabrics? Or more structure, with the jackets vs. the softer tunics and toppers you often wear?

Actually, it's tough for me to say what the fabrics are here. If linen, then why couldn't you wear, at least indoors in air con?

As Ceit says, you couldn't wear these here in Ontario for much of the year, at least not with the (very cool) sandals. They might work during our very short mid-spring (like two weeks) and again for about 2 weeks in the fall. I guess they would work all right if you lived and worked in an air conditioned environment and never went outside, but I think your feet would get cold in that case.

Those are great looks, I could see myself wearing those most of the year here. Maybe not in the hottest months of summer (but I do wear jeans in summer), and in winter you'd require a winter jacket over top.

This looks to me like it totally fits your style. With the heat starting would Tanya's suggestion of a sleevelessshirt and no scraf work. A little different vibe but I still think it would be in line with the direction you want to go in.

Vildy - Austin winters are so short I tend to want to wear my boots and sweaters at any given excuse. So I do get to wear the same basic silhouette, but not in these light fabrications. It wold be so awesome to wear this stuff year round IMO.

Suz - I know everyone thinks air conditioning helps, but doing a switch from what is essentially a bikini (outside) to real clothes (inside) is a real switcheroo. I've never managed to make it work, alas.

Debbie - Yeah, maybe with no sleeves and so scarf, but then I'm kinda like, what's the point, you know?

Now, I know it sounds crazy but I read a whole column about this. Can't find it now - a menswear blog - but here is a quick blurb:

You could probably wear these in the spring, summer and fall in Albuquerque where I live. Yes, it's very hot in the summer during the day but because it's a high desert the temperatures drop 30-40 degrees at night. Even at the height of summer, the evening/night temps are usually in the 60's, where these outfits would be perfect.

I'm with Suz. I think you already have quite a similar style to this, from what we've seen in your WIWs. But I understand what you mean -- I really do not love dressing for summer. The combination of heat and humidity does me in. I rarely feel fab in the hotter months.

I also see what Raisin is talking about. I love those sandals in the pics, but they seem too bare for outfits with long sleeved cardigans, scarves, etc. If my feet are that open to the elements, chances are my arms are too!

I find Berkeley kind of overcast and chilly. Maybe over the hills in the Valley... but my vote really goes for So Cal.

Alas, the boy will never, never, ever move to California. Ever. He saw firsthand the afterffects of the tsunami in Japan, and running across California is a giant fault line dotted with aging nuclear power plants. Don't think my desire to wear a cute trench with sandals is going to sway him much from no-way-in-hell position.

Hmmm, what about the Carolinas maybe? Not sure, as the sandals really throw me off! They look fun, but my feet would freeze except when it was really warm, and then I wouldn't be in a trench.

I love these looks, but the one thing that I can't get over is the sandals. Most women have feet that run cold, so wearing warm clothing on the top with sandals doesn't really work. I just keep thinking, by the time I'm wearing a top and jacket and jeans, the weather is too cold for sandals. If I'm wearing a scarf and long sleeves and jeans, ditto. Basically, I'm not sure that there really is anywhere that you can wear these looks. Now, the scarf and a tee and jeans and sandals, sure. The jeans and booties and a tank and the jacket, yes. For what it is worth.

Oh I know for sure there are places I can wear this. I just have to find it. It's out there... somewhere...

I think S-Ca is really the best best, but alas, it isn't even on the bucket list.

Those shots are from Misch, right? They're a 15 minute bus ride from my house. I love their stuff and their outfits (I follow their blog obsessively). Way out of my budget, sadly, and I'm much too intimidated to actually go in the store, even though it's only 20 minutes away. But I know where you need to move to wear those clothes--Vancouver of course!
