Think spring. Reality check.

I’m really trying to get there. My little attempts include shorter pants and bare ankles. I get myself ready to go and am confronted with a somber reality check.

Take a look and toss some ideas my way. I really appreciate your observations and suggestions.

1 and 2. Black and Tan outfit with shoe options.
3 the real world forecast: strong winds and heavy rain. My Laundry raincoat with hood was not one bit springlike, but my spring raincoats were not warm enough.

4 navy base
5 coral cardigan added
6 more reality checks. The forecast was for windchills in the teen numbers and I had playground duty. On went the lined rain boots ( 70% of our playground is now mud) , a scarf and my down parka.

You look great in all these looks - but I can sense a longing for warmer easier weather.

Those tan pants are great on you! I also like you in that raspberry wool cardi. I hope you get some better weather soon! At least this prolonged winter is giving you plenty of time to plan your spring wardrobe

Similar weather here in Michigan I think. I can't do bare ankles until it is a bit warmer. I think these look great, the tan pants lighten the black.

Mainlady, hoping that Spring reaches you soon as you definitely have the clothing for it. I love you black and tan outfit, especially with the red and leopard shoes. Freezing for fashion is just not worth it. I also love the navy ensemble with the coral cardigan. However, given your playground duties, the parka and rain boots are a good and very stylish choice.

You look wonderful in all of these -- so polished, pretty, and pulled together. Love you in the red! Your hair is looking particularly beautiful, but the way.

And I sympathize with your re-winterizing. No way I am baring my ankles yet, in our cold. Brrrrrrr!!!

Good for you for trying! I can’t go sans socks until the temps are at least in the high 60s. Hang in there...warmer weather has to arrive, eventually.

I'm in a similar place, mainelady! I'm dying for nicer weather. Your ensembles still manage to be very stylish, though I can understand being sick of pulling on the rain boots and parka every day.

Not sure what to say... good try? I'm trying to lighten up, but no way am I ready for bare skin. I did get my winter tires off yesterday though!

I really like outfit #1... those shoes are awesome.

I know how you feel ,I m desperate for spring and not wearing my puffer and winter boots !You look very nice and I particularly like you in the red/coral cardi,that is a good colour on you.

I do love that look in #1 and those shoes are fantastic beyond belief and tie the look together beautifully. I bet you could wear them with jacket in #5 too ( although I’m going off a picture so my eyes might not be seeing right. I hear you about having to keep going back to winter rain gear- I don’t think I will ever get to wear my new spring trench- but doesn’t your neck get cold without a scarf or am I not seeing it there in look # 3 ( I see it with the parka( thumbs up)
I do like the flats in the other views also...... but that shoe in 1&3 - I am in love!

I like all the looks, you know what clothes flatter your body, and I could learn from you. I am safely in spring, being in LA, but when it was cooler, a nice in-between outfit I liked to wear was a long skirt with riding boots, and bare legs. Or you could wear it with any shoes. The skirt is long enough to protect your skin in mild weather, so you don't feel too cold.

You look beautiful in these outfits, Mainelady! I especially LOVE no 1 and 5. Love the shoes and the colours in no 1 and how you add the perfect jewelry. You have created such an elegant and polished outfit. No 5 is also wonderful - the red cardigan suits you so well and the necklace makes the outfit sing!

Understand the raincoat dilemma. Here, the spring is on its way...

Lovely. I’m almost ashamed to say: spring has arrived here yesterday in full force but I don’t know what to wear! Have postponed my shopping too long I fear, and focused too much on what I could wear immediately...

You’re braver than I! We’re having crazy alternating days of 50’s vs near 70 and I can’t bare ankle except if warmer. ( and I wear sheer hose always!) So you are doing swell, with the tan and animal print.

I think you need some outfits with lighter colored booties( not for playground though!) and light neutral warm sweaters, and scarves that mix in cream and your best “ flower colors”.

Btw- count down continues and is getting closer- I am getting excited for you-See what happens when you are jealous of ladies that have sisters- lol. Have an amazing time and curb enthusiasm enough to remember pictures- lots of pictures!

When I opened the first pics I thought to myself, What a lovely way to welcome spring. That black sweater looks like the fit suits you really well.
Do you have a red scarf? In picture 6, the peeping cardigan made me think a cheerul color wool scarf could also do the Spring trick for those couple of weeks when it's not May yet. And red just agrees so well on you.

Fantastic outfits, but my favorite is number one with those gorgeous shoes. I understand how you feel about the weather, I usually have the opposite problem, looong and very warm summers, it's already in the high 30's Celsius here.

Love #1 -- but I'm with you, I'd put on those boots at the first sign of rain and mud. It would be all over for the pretty printed kitten heels.

Thank you all for your kind comments and wishes for warmer weather. Pic #1 was my favorite outfit for the week. We had a fresh dusting (3”) of snow on Saturday night. Here is a pic of me with my GS looking out at a deer in the back field. The winter boots came back out for a while.

Elizabeth P, I get my snow tires off on the 18th...that should be a safe date.

Efbgen I didn’t wear a scarf with the raincoat, as I was only going between my car and buildings. If I had needed to be out for any length of time, I would have worn one. Thank you for remembering my sister trip! Less than 5 days. I have my clothes picked out and ready to go. My sister is planning our shopping routes and we are making our “Search For” and “Do Not Let Me Near It” lists.

Carol, I am going to try your idea this week. I have a skirt and boots in mind. I’ll try to post a pic.

Unfrumped, you are right, I do need the lighter footwear and warm tops with cream and some brighter colors. Those are on my shopping list and my trip begins in 5 days!

Krish, I do have a red scarf! Great idea! The brighter and cheery colors can go a long way to hint at spring even if Mother Nature is dramatically hanging on to winter.

I have reviewed and cleaned out my closets. I have 4 bags of garments to pass along. All my spring wear is looking good and patiently waiting to burst through, like crocuses in the snow.
