Winter is here. It’s a great time for experimenting for me. These are some random things I tried in June.

(A reminder that my themes for winter are:
*Dark bohemian: modern bohemian take on dark romance
*Gilded edge: warm metallics with texture and edge)

1-4. Teal bohemian. I have an FP cardigan that I dyed teal a couple of years ago. I usually wear it open as a jacket but this time I tried wearing it fully buttoned up, more like a top, with my teal scarf as skirt. I think the buttons and new colour make it look more dramatic that way. I love wearing head to toe teal SO much.

5-7. Cuffed bracelet sleeves (1). I thrifted an open knit top in a metallic olive green. It has some issues, which I was prepared to overlook for $10. One is that it is too long for me, and tricky to semi tuck. The other is that it has bracelet sleeves, which I don’t care for. I like uber long sleeves. I’ve been experimenting with visually lengthening them. In this outfit I wore a long sleeve top underneath plus adjustable bracelets to create a cuff effect. (The underlayer is teal. Hard to see in the photos.) This enabled the sleeves of my top to extend past my jacket sleeves, which is my strong preference. But the bracelets did move around a little, so …

8-10. Cuffed bracelet sleeves (2). This time I tried wearing bracelets ON the knit. Because of the grippiness of the knit, they stayed put. The underlayer here is a dusty pink metallic top. The cuffs are rose gold (which picks up the pink tone). This worked better.

11-12. Dragon lady (1). I like dragons. I’ve had this dragon motif top for a couple of years but until recently I’ve only worn it at home. It’s a loose cropped top, but a little too cropped. I tried wearing it over a longer loose, cropped top. Much better! Welcome to the outside world, my little dragon friend. Unfortunately he was obscured by my jacket, so…

13-14. Dragon lady (2). On the next occasion I wore him with my grey jacket, which has a wider neckline to give him more breathing space (get it?). A fairly cool toned outfit for me, but I felt like living dangerously.

15-16. Gothic pattern mix. I am a fan of pattern mixing. I tried my Allsaints Amare skirt (which is my favourite skirt) with a mesh top that has an interesting (to me) woodgrain pattern. It has those trendy inside out seams (good texture). Loved the modern gothic vibe of this outfit, which is in keeping with my dark romantic theme.
