The tags are off of two items!

The J.Crew Matchsticks and the Marc Andrew jacket. I wasn't sure about either, and when I posted about the jacket Angie advised me to sleep on it before making a K/R decision. My night went like this:

2 a.m. - Can't sleep, what should I do? Marc is so nice and warm (DH: Huh?) so unique, fits great, maybe he does make me look fab, not flab, keep?, keep. keep!...OK...*snip snip* ...tags off! (I keep scissors in my nightstand).

2:10 a.m. - J.Crew, you're so comfy (DH: Say what?), so what if your waist is too big - I can fix that, and once I give Frankenboot the boot (pun intended), I can wear you with those gorgeous Corso Como leopard booties. In fact, J., I have tons of outfits planned for you...hey wait a sec, you and Marc will look fantastic together! OK...*snip snip* ...tags off!

So I altered the waist on the matchsticks and wore them when going out tonight. Under the jacket and when inside I wore my Bar III oversize blazer (it's gray, not black, and has a pin dot lining which shows on the cuffs). On my feet I wore my gray boots. Well, make that "boot" since Frankenboot is on my right foot. Total fun, happiness factor was sky high!

Karie, you're hilarious! And guess what? I think you made absolutely the right choice! I was of two minds about the jacket to begin with, as you know, but I ADORE the way you have styled it here and you clearly know how to make it work well for you. I never saw a figure flattering issue at all -- it was a colour thing. But here, it's working brilliantly. The mix of neutrals is lovely on you. The scarf ties it all together (ha ha). I missed the jeans thread but these look terrific, too!

Did you stay your regular size in the Matchsticks? For some reason when I try them on there is something off about this cut on me, and I haven't yet figured out what the problem is. I seem to have more like sizing UP in the toothpick style -- it gives me a very slightly "cigarette" style jean silhouette, still slim but with a bit of slouch, not like a true skinny, but still reined in. I don't know why the Matchsticks don't seem to work; I really like them in theory (and on others.)

Suz, the matchsticks are two sizes up. Yikes! Good thing I don't care about the number on the tag (which I can't even cut off, as the number is printed right on the inside waistband!). I think they fit more like "cigarette" style jeans, just like you said above - slim but with a bit of slouch. They were big in the waist - I had to alter the waistband in several locations as they seem to be cut straight up from the hips. What sold me on keeping them was they are very comfy, nice fabrication, and long in length.

Right -- okay -- so this is making sense. I don't care about the number on the tag, either. But there was something about how they sit in my size that I did not like. I think maybe the larger sizes of Matchsticks overwhelm me slightly, because of my height -- and I would need them shortened so much. Hmmm. I will have to experiment again next time I'm in J. Crew. Thank you!

Karie, You make me laugh, I thought I was the only idiot that lays awake in the wee small hours stressing about my wardrobe. Your midnight musings have not led you astray, the outfits look great.

Aleta, I have a rack outside the closet where I hang what I'm wearing for the week, and any items that I'm deciding K/R on. When I wake up, it's the first thing I see. I think I need to move the rack, I'd get a better night's sleep
