Thanks to all of you -I'm glad to know I can still trust my instincts when it comes to picking out "different" things for myself. I *do* love brown and think of it as a sophisticated neutral that goes with so many other colours , and is a nice change from black.

I'm excited to have the maryjane flats back on my radar, even if I have to wait until late September to order them (supply delays according to Madewell).

The color is stunning on you and the vibe is right! I am not sure if this will make as much sense to others as it does to me, but I started to buy second hand clothes because I wanted that high quality at an affordable to me price. Those finished seams are addictive .

This is why I sewed so much of my wardrobe and did all of my own home decor sewing too . Decades later and my standards dropped or self-adjusted as life got busier and more complicated . Maybe this will turn me into more of a sale shopper ?

Jaime I totally get what you are saying. When I compare the quality of the second hand gems I find with new stuff that is at the price I am prepared to pay it is no contest. I only shop seconds now purely for this reason. I love well made clothes. I am lucky that we get a lot of 2nds directly from Italy in our local thrift stores. I never saw quality like this existed in South Africa and am now addicted.
LJP this is a fabulous top and I think it will look fab with lighter blue jeans if you have in Fall. For added warmth when necessary I would wear an under layer - a long sleeve T that won't necessarily be seen.

I like brown too but mainly wear it as an accent, especially since my hair color change (sigh). It worked better when my hair was dark brown.
