The Learning Curve, Feb. - a month of (no longer) FFBOs

So what did I learn this month? I'm a boring winter dresser! Boots, sweater, repeat. Boots, sweater, scarf, repeat. Oh, and to add a little excitement, when the weather warmed up to 10 F, I wore a skirt with two pairs of leggings or fleece lined leggings. This has been a harsh, cold Feb. and I'm afraid I fell back on my winter FFBOs a little too often. In fact, I'm so tired of this formula, it's no longer a FFBO. I do love my boots, sweaters, and scarves, but I am quite ready for both a weather and wardrobe seasonal change.

I did manage to wear Angie's outfit formula for a boxy sweatshirt & button-down (pic 7), and I got in a couple of Pinterest copies, so I guess all hope is not lost!

Is anyone else tired of winter dressing? What do you do to change things up?

You may be tired of the FFBO but it looks so good on you!

All of these are great but they are the same dark color palette.Which is probably what you're tired of. I think you'd love some bright spring colors -- that are warm enough. Angie did a post on this winter weariness I will see if I can find it.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been forcing myself not to complain as much as I'd like to, because I know that once the warm weather rolls in, it will rather quickly be followed by HOT weather which I also dislike.

You look great in all of these! I love the colors that you wear. The blue scarf with the green sweater is just awesome. Are those leopard leg warmers peeking out of your boots in pic 3? Fab!

Karie, I'm not tired of winter dressing because we don't have much of a winter in Florida, but your outfits are marvelous!! So fab!

your formula looks beautiful and comfortable on you, I agree with Day Vies that if the weather doesn't let you change the basic structure, color experiments might help introduce some variety to keep it interesting for you.

Thanks for the link, Day Vies. I know the citron-bright green sweater and the bright blue polka dot scarf are definitely mood lifters. Perhaps that's why I've been craving my cream colored sweaters lately - I'm ready for lighter colors, and brighter ones too.

Karie -- You look fabulous in ALL these outfits, whether they are FFBO or not. I think all of us northerners are a bit tired of winter and craving change right now. Change is good!

Karie, it may be a FFB and you may be tired of it -- but WOW! You look sensational, every single day. I would love it if you compared this series with one taken last year or even in the autumn. You are really nailing your style, more and more clearly every day. There's more cohesion. You look more comfortable. You're still experimenting, but the experiments have a purpose and an underlying theme, somehow. Your casual at home style looks just as intentional as your work style. In short, you are ROCKIN' it!!!

I am with you, though, in needing a change. My outfits have been even more similar to one another than yours (at least you switch up the silhouettes sometimes) and mine are also more boring. I'm really tired of it. I agree that brighter and lighter colours are key at this time and I hope to work a few of those into my wardrobe somehow.

These are amazing! Not boring at all! I see a very clear style persona, with a lot of common elements between outfits, but each one has a lot of zing and personality.

I bet it'll feel great to wear some spring clothes once the weather allows it.

Karie, are you kidding me? This is a very interesting and varied bunch of outfits! I see tons of color and pattern and detail. You have a lot of variety here and you look amazing. Clearly you have taken Angie's formulas and your own inspiration from Pinterest to heart. WELL, well done. And yes, hang in there. Spring, she is a-coming!

Suz, I have actually done that - since I have taken a photo every day since the start of the school year, I have a lot to look back at, plus all the photos since joining YLF - and I have noticed an improvement, a refinement in my style. Even though I'm getting bored with the whole sweater/scarf thing, this is the first month that I've liked the way every single outfit turned out. There were no "I don't want to post that!" outfits. Granted, there are some repeats in the pile, but that's another thing - even though I like to keep creating, repeating is OK too.
Claire, JAileen, El Cee, Mellllls, and Greyscale, we thought spring was just around the corner - but alas, it turns out another winter storm is what's around the corner, due to arrive this Wed.

I see you looking amazing and cohesive in these photos. so interesting to hear you say how tracking your outfits has resulted in a month of everythign tfeeling great to post. i has been a cold winter and I think everyone os ready for spring. This week I did some flares (wet hems and all!) and skirts just to mix it up. You have really honed in on a lot of looks that work for you here with layers, belting, various cuts -- sweathers, ponchos, button ups layered. I know you mentioned feeling bored, but really you look sensational! As Day Vies mentioned, I wonder how you will feel once adding some more spring colors into the mix and if you feel like that will give a lift to the boredom?
