If this is indulgent then I'm twice so, as I posted twice as many pics on my thread yesterday!
Yes, I've done the fashion history analysis as well -- I seem to recall I even posted a few pictures here once or twice. I have an album I affectionately named "Past Fashion Horrors."
Lessons learned
- I've always loved trends even when the trends didn't love me. Lesson: be choosy. I don't need to embrace every trend. And a small dose of trend (trendy handbag added to otherwise classic outfit) goes a long way.
- Beware of clothes that wear you, instead of the other way around. Lesson: be wary of regular sized clothes because at 5' tall the fit will not be right.
- Dark hair looks all wrong, and please just say no to bangs.
- Cool tones flatter better than warm tones, and please say no to brown or orange based lipsticks
- Short sleeves are not flattering. Even when lifting heavy weights 5x a week.
- Please mind the rear view. Lots of pants are cut for people with wider hips, beware of saggy butt effect. And take a few extra minutes to fix the back of your hair, even if you can't see it others do.
- My worst fashion faux pas have been with casual wear. I can never seem to get that quite right.
But most of all, "I can't believe you wished you were thinner, wished you were a different shape, wished your skin, coloring, hair type was different. You wished away your entire youth trying to be other than you were not. To have that figure, skin, muscle tone, natural hair color again.............. sigh." It is very true, youth is wasted on the young!
