It was supposed to be nice day out at a local wildlife refuge, seeing a bird rare for our area. We took our dogs. The first thing was one of them pulled to go off the path, and my foot broke through the crust and was covered with mud, causing me to fall backwards. Then we were stopped in construction traffic, and the flagman told us we had a flat tire. So we had to find a tire repair place. We had lunch in the tire repair shop, sitting amidst the tires, with our dogs. They were unable to repair the tire, and didn’t have the right replacement, so we had to drive the 60 miles home at under 50 mph, on the spare. One semi honked at us for going so slowly. Once home, my shoe hosed off nicely. So nothing really bad happened. But we never saw the bird.
