The corollary to shying away from black for me right now (See Angie's post) is that I'm feeling drawn to lots of white and light colors.
Here are some outfits I've been playing with: some I've worn, and some I plan to wear.
1- I wore this for a day of running errands, and it felt cool, casual and breezy. Gap cotton top, Loft white denim skirt, snake print Mephisto sandals, Milly neon yellow mini bag.
2- I haven't worn this yet, but I think I will. I kind of like the contrast of Converse sneakers with the more polished white blazer. The tank is a little too low in the neckline so I'm having the straps shortened before I actually wear it. I love these tanks for layering, and have bought them in four colors!
Banana Republic cotton blazer, Frenchi pale gray tank, Kut from the Kloth Catherine white BF jeans, Converse sneaks, Rebecca Minkoff bag.
3- My first 2 purchases from the new COS website: marble print t-shirt dress and necklace. I wore it for a casual evening with friends. The dress is quite voluminous- hopefully it doesn't make me look voluminous... My husband assures me that it doesn't in person, at least.
Eileen Fisher gray caged wedge sandals.
4- I haven't worn this yet, but I like the idea of the sleeveless blazer as a third piece in hot weather. Inspired by this look on Northern Light blog.
Target sleeveless blazer- copying Una (alaskagirl)
Vince relaxed skinny jeans, Eileen Fisher silk tank, Mephisto sandals.
5- Another one I haven't worn yet, but it got a thumbs up from DH. Really just a variation on #2 with a citron tank instead of gray, orange belt and d'Orsay flats.
Well, what do you think? Does all this white work, or is it too much of a good thing? (Of course I'm still also wearing plenty of other colors, but I'm just showing the light ones here.)
