Tell me more about Modcloth

I just discovered this site today and WOW, I am hooked. I had no idea I'd be drawn to this funkier, more vintage style, but I am. However, I have a couple of questions:

- How's the quality?
- They don't show many of the dresses on actual models, but when they do, they look pretty short. I'm only 5 foot 2, so maybe the length will be OK, but I want to keep it no shorter than a bit above the knee, because...
- I'm 33 and a working mom. Are these clothes too "mutton dressed as lamb" for me?

I don't think you need to move it. It also works for body type.
At 33 you are no where near mutton my dear!
Isn't it fun to discover your inner style goddess. Awhile back we had a long play on our 3 style words, what would people say about us now, and, where are we striving to be. I'll see if I can find it for you. Doing this opened my eyes and made it all much easier.

Sorry I searched and searched. Does anyone know where to find the long post we had on our 3 style words?

Tricia, you are tiny and I think these dresses could look lovely on you. It's fun to discover a new element of your own fashion persona, isn't it. Just try a few things on and experiment (and show us the results;-), you never know until you try right?

i love modcloth! the quality is pretty much reflected by the prices -- the dresses that are around the $40 range are pretty much h&m like in quality, and the ones priced higher are higher...and so on. it's definitely better than the forever 21-type places.

the beauty of modcloth is that for every dress/shoe/top/whatever, you can click on the 'composition and measurements' link and they'll usually tell you the length of every garment -- plus other key measurements, of course -- to ensure you get the fit you want. i'm about 5'4" and i hate dresses that are too short, so i tend to only go for those that come in at about 36" or more. at 5'2" you should be good :).

a word to the wise... modcloth stocks "indie" brands, but because of the popularity of the site, things can sometimes quickly sell out. you should know that you can also find some of the merchandise you see there on these sites:

Thanks - I was looking at those measurements, but I couldn't visualize where those lengths would hit on me. About what length would I need if I wanted a dress to hit just at the top of the knee?

Also, I usually wear a 4-6 on the bottom and a 6-8 on top - would I size up at all for Modcloth?
