Yesterday I succumbed to curiosity and ventured into Old Navy, where I rarely shop. Helena’s shorts post inspired me, so I blame her!

I picked up a pair of the shorts she got, but for me those are probably wear-around-home items. However, these came home with me too, and I like them as well as I like any shorts on me. I’m not much of a gingham person but the black and white works for me. A little shadow preppy style is coming through here.

Worn with another new sale acquisition — I saw this plum Frank & Eileen shirt when I bought my cobalt blue one, but left it behind. Weeks later, there it was, just one shirt available, on further sale, and in my size, so I took it for a sign. I don’t have much in this color but I like it. It’s not typical for summer wear but I’ll also wear into the cooler months, layered, etc.

I’m not sure how to handle the hem of this shirt with shorts — semi-tuck, tie, or leave it untucked? (I tried a full tuck and that’s a hard pass!) What do you think?

Wearing today for a zoom meeting and then running out to do some work in my studio and get my eyeglasses fixed — they are sitting crooked and I can’t get them straight. It’s muggy and warm today with a chance of rain.
