Since my Jan Preppie Week, clogs have been on my mind. Like preppie, clogs were a big part of how i dressed in high school. And now they seem to be trending again, and I’m wondering if i can/should go there again
so, what do you think? Do you wear them? Brands you like? Brands you don’t like? Not a fan at all? Talk to me

Personally not a fan for me — they fly right off my feet. And they’re just a little too much like what girls in my school wore in 1980. I can’t go there again, personally. But if they work for you and are comfortable I say try it! I prefer the ones with lower contrast, not-wood soles so they look a bit more current and not like we kept them since junior high school.

I've just worn much more streamlined versions, pointy mules and such, but my feet just get pushed forward as I walk. The high vamps often rub the top of my foot too. I can't walk that far in them. Plus they have limited climate use for me.

If clogs, then the classic styles you’ve posted, with wood soles, relying on the beauty of the natural materials for their looks.

This may sound odd, but I’m surprised to hear you don’t currently wear clogs. They just strike me as a “you”’ kind of things.

janet --yes, i do want to make sure i don't look like i've been hanging on to them since 9th grade!
FashInern...interesting, they were my thing back in the day, but until now, i've not really felt the need to revisit them...but i'm not sure how much is because i'm bored and feeling nostalgic, and how much is because i'm feeling they would look fresh again and will work well for my current WFH, safe at home life

I own more clogs than a human being ought to own. I have flat low volume feet so backless ones tend to fly off my feet and even with some with backs I have added a tongue pad to tighten the fit over my arch.

Clog fit can be a bit like Birkie fit: Your toes have to be a certain length. MIAs do not work for me although they might if they came in half sizes. Uneven ground can be treacherous if you are prone to twisting your ankles. Danskos at least are more standing than walking shoes. My right foot bends very little (hallux rigidus) so I need the support and inflexibility of Dansko Pros so YMMV.

As to fashion/style? Clogs look really, really bad with more delicate looks. A much taller and bigger friend owns brown leather clogs which give her a too heavy, clunky masculine look — but I think she would look great in my flowered ones.

I don't wear them - too wide for my feet and slip off - but come on - clogs are Dutch!! How can they not be KILLER FAB

In the Netherlands, all ages and genders wear them. It's like a Dutch Birkie. With and without socks.

I had a few red pairs as a child and teen in the '70s and '80s. I'd wear a white pair today, if I could get them to fit!

I think they are stylish in that classic and iconic Euro way. Some of my Norwegian and German clients wear them, and with panache. Go for it!

I like clogs that are fabricated with brads, like the Loeffler Randal clogs in your find. I think they look more "finished" than clogs made with staples.

I love them!!! I wear Dansko. I’ve tried Sanitas, but they don’t seem to fit. I wore the backless kind for years, both with and without the strap. Then I got a pair with the back and have worn them a lot this past year. I also have these sandals, in several colors. I love them best of all.

These are my clog and clog-adjacent shoes. I wore the sandal ones a ton last summer and despite the height I found them to be very comfortable.

I have a black Sanita pair on a wood wedge bottom, with gold studs around the edge (I did have a find for them when I bought them a few years ago) though I don't tend to wear them as much because I somehow am never sure about what hemline I like with them.

I also had a pair of donut heel wood wedge clogs when I was in junior high school. Oh, did I love those shoes.

Oh, how i loved clogs back in the mid to late 1970s. I begged my mother for a pricey floral pair that I got as a 16th birthday gift. I can't wear clogs now because I can't keep them on my feet and they're just not comfortable. Dang fussy feet! Also, they no longer suit my personal style.

I've always wanted to be able to wear them because style-wise they'd be a natural fit for me, but they're just too rigid! I can't get into the feeling of standing on top of my shoes like little step stools. I look at No. 6, Hanna Andersson, Swedish Hasbeens, etc every fall/winter because I love the vibe they lend, but I know I'd be miserable wearing them. My Dutch ancestors are probably shaking their heads at me.

I was tickled to see in angie’s post that clogs are trending again! I had just been thinking that I wanted to pull out my clogs for spring after having not worn them much for several years.

I like Lotta from Stockholm. Similar look to Swedish Hasbeens but much more reasonable price point. I wear the low heel and styles with a buckle ankle strap — they have been fine for my narrow feet and ankles.

Here is my collection. I wear the red peep toes occasionally with patterned socks in spring. The braided sandals are exclusively for barefoot summer wear.

I have a pair that fit great, but I don’t wear them for anything other than running out to the mailbox or putting out the garbage, because they don’t have any cushioning to speak of. I changed shoes before walking to town, back when we could leave the property for such things.

I love clogs and have several pairs, including traditional styles, sandals, and booties. I could never find a pair that worked well on my feet until I discovered Troentorp, a Swedish brand. They fit my feet perfectly and are really comfortable, and they use nail studs instead of staples, which I prefer. So I think the key is to find a brand that has a wooden base shape (length, width, other bells and whistles, e.g., Troentorp bases have a little arch support curve and a big toe indentation that my feet love) that works for your particular feet.

I had a pair of Bastad Troentorp clogs as Jonesy refers to above in the late 70s in the Da Vinci Dark Blue. It looks like they have not changed a bit. I remember they were initially a bit uncomfortable but once worn in were perfect - a bit like Docs have to be worn in. I would wear them today.

Give me all of the clogs. I'm right into them too. I go for the old-school Swedish Hasbeen or No 6 look, but the prices for nice ones are getting so high! I bought a pair of cheaper ones last summer from Mia - and while they're just ok, I should have held out for really nice ones. Story of my life. I am a bit afraid of spraining an ankle though - old people worries .

I've had the Troentorp ones in an out of a shopping cart for a solid year, too.

Oh, and , I'm really annoyed at myself for tossing out an ancient (now would be cool vintage - lol) pair of Roots leather clogs - complete with a softer rubber base . I got rid of them when I moved homes 2 years ago, and it was just one in a long list of dumb decisions I made at that time.

I like the distinctive look, and think they are iconic - like Birks or Doc Martens. But, I won’t be sporting the look! Memories of feet slipping and coming down hard with my heel on the back edge! Right up there with stepping on a Lego!

I have loved them since my first pair as an exchange student in Finland! They fit great and I wore them everywhere with everything, running for the bus and all. They looked just like the Danskos (maybe they were Danskos?) and I had black ones with black wood soles. Since then I have tried some on looking for new ones and don't find them comfortable enough - I'm so sad. I don't know if my feet have gotten pickier or they were a different shape or what.

Much love for, especially the more traditional, wood or cork soled varieties, I am always envious when I see other women tripping along in them. Sadly, I have not worn them since high school when poor fit caused a problem that fortunately resolved itself without surgery.

I would not wear them now anyway as I am restricting myself to shoes suitable for impromptu dog walking.

I absolutely loved the clogs I owned in the 80’s. I’ve thought about them but haven’t actually owned a pair since then. I still like the vibe and would try them again if I found the right pair, especially if they’re coming back in style.

What’s more classic than clogs and a fair isle?! I also like the modern hipster look, with something linen or the like. I feel one has to try on a variety. Some are easier or harder to walk in, just depending on your feet and the exact nature of the shoe.

I used to wear Bass clogs. They were my go-to shoe for a long time. I am a huge fan. Currently, I do not have a pair. Give it a whirl again

True story, my mother hated clogs, and i was only allowed to wear pairs with the back strap or the full back, because she thought they were safer...of course, my sister the 1st time out in hers, feel down the stairs...
any way, funnily enough, I’ve had a pair of Troentorp in and out of my cart for a couple of weeks...but thanks to the encouragement I’m going to place an order, and probably a pair of Dansko as well, as see how they feel.

I love my clogs. Haven't worn them as much as I could now that I think about it. I like them with comfy socks and pants... probably could not pull it off with a dress or skirt. Mine are Dansko.

I started wearing clogs in junior high and wore them constantly for the next 10-15 years. Bought a purple suede pair my first semester of college, and wore them for 20 years, till the wood sole was literally disintegrating into little pieces. They were my emblem. In more recent years, I've tried some Danskos but don't really find them comfortable enough, so I no longer own any clogs. : (

Clogs are still very popular with the artsy creative folks I know. I love clogs more than they love me. I’m still trying to make the pink Hanna Andersson pair work for my feet. I got them for like $15 on Poshmark so it was a cheap experiment. The tan heels are Torpatoffelns from eBay and get worn often in the summer as my match-everything dressy sandals.
