Thank you so much for all of you that helped me on the last post and made me realize I needed to offer more pictures to completely evaluate this dress...Angie wasn't so sure this dress is a keeper but before I completely disregard it I thought I should at least show pictures wearing the correct size. I have thrown on the only pair of heels I own so disregard the color....Seeing the pictures with and without the bolero make me think that I would only be comfortable wearing the jacket and would likely not remove it at all. I went shopping my bff so I at least had her input and of all the dresses I tried that day this was the only one that came close...so if it's back to the drawing board I had better get my rear in gear...yikes!

I did not have a chance to comment on your earlier post, sorry! Honestly I have to say that this is not my most favorite dress on you. I like you the best in strong and simple outfits - like that amazing outfit from today. This dress feels too fussy for you IMO. I am also not sure about the color...sorry!
For example that first black dress for the cruise was stunning on you - see, it is bold and simple in cut and this is kind of style I can see on you for the wedding as well.

Sveta-you have such excellent recall and it seems you know my style better than I do! You are so right about my preference for strong and simple outfits. I guess the whole MOG thing is throwing me and I feel that most of the other dresses I tried aren't dressy enough..

After seeing your wiw & going through to the link Sveta provided I don't think this is the dress for you. It doesn't look "bad" or inappropriate but as Sveta says it doesn't look like your style. Shelby is a sweetie:)

Carole, with that amount of time, I think you can do better. Seeing it here, my instincts are confirmed. It's a lovely dress but it is not "you." Like Sveta, I envision you in something strong and simple. Clean lines with a bit of drama. I agree that this dress is better than the others you took pics of, but it isn't "the one."

Shelby is so cute! And today's outfit is super fab!

Congratulations on being MOG! I totally sympathize with the dearth of MOG/MOB dresses out there.. Things that.might help:
Do look online esp. Nordies-- I thought they were w bit late with addign spring and summer dresses, so things have still been coming in. Length was a huge problem but noting the measurements helped me focus.. I did return something like 5 dresses to Nordstrom & one to Macy's. You wear the tailored look very well, so you might look at dressier blazers & jackets too and you can work backwards and add to a sheath dress. You might also solve some fit issues with separates- skirt and structured top or jacket.
Keep a fallback option, like a dress with tags on that you can return if you find something better, if you can- maybe it is this dress if you don't need alterations. I was determined not to wear anything remotely ivory and I think they market MOG/MOB colors that are too close to that . But it never got down to making that kind of choice.

Thanks Unfrumped, you are making me feel a little less panic-y. It seems like slim pickings and I have already tried on several dresses shown on line that seem like they would work and they didn't. I will not give up hope! The whole color thing is hard as well, can't dress like a bridesmaid or in the color of the MOB, don't want to stand out too much, etc etc etc.

Carole, I so identify with the problem of finding just the right MOG dress. Just a year ago I was in the same situation. My only advice is not to rule out the long dresses. I ended up with one and had it shortened to on the knee.

Wow, great idea Joy! It seems like such a waste to chop off a beautiful long dress (I would really prefer a long dress) but I guess that would help with my issue of not finding dresses long enough-make it any length I want!

Carole, I like the dress but I agree with Sveta's assessment. I think sometimes we are thrust into a "role" and in trying to dress accordingly we go off on a tangent away from our true style. I say defy the convention and go with something old and simple and "you":)

To be blunt, I don't care for the dress on you! I agree with the others that it doesn't look like you at all. It seems fussy and, yes, matronly, to me. I think that coral one you tried on is fab--why did you reject it? Too casual? Maybe if you blinged it up with jewelry and footwear? The color and simple silhouette look gorgeous on you. Also loved the blue satin, slightly Mad Men-esque dress you posted on another thread, for more drama.

Carole... I'm in a hurry so please excuse the hectic message and if I sound harsh. I wasn't won over by the dress the first time. On a gut level, it's quite busy for you. On a design level, there seem to be too much ruching and details the pull the eye in the tummy area, and the bolero emphasise that. Not the there is anything wrong with that area, but somehow it makes the whole posture appear strange... Noce color though, it's very ladylike.

I just noticed second round of dresses you posted further down. Much more pleasing to the eye very straightforward design, no-nonsense, then pretty detailing noticeable at a closer look - just what I personally like and what seems to be more you. Out of the three, the last one is my favorite.

I hope it makes sense. I love your style and I think you're onto something with the latest attempt much more than the first dress.

Carole, I missed the earlier thread, but I agree with the others that this dress is not fab enough for you. (To be honest, that tiered look on formal dresses is getting tired to me, I think I'm developing a poison eye for it.) I'm not loving the straps or the color either.

I do think you wear that sheath style very well, and that coral color is great on you. I agree with the others that your ideal dress is still out there waiting for you!

Deborah-Thanks for your vote-yes, the role of MOG is confusing, so many rules to follow and it's such a big day I want to look appropriate and formal enough.

Jonesy-thank you for your honesty-I appreciate "blunt". The coral dress was very pretty but too casual. It had an exposed zipper in the back which I loved but it seemed more appropriate for a rehearsal dinner.

Ornella-You are so right about this not being true to my style, I guess I am insecure about this whole process. I wish I could take you guys into the dressing room-why did the sale clerk steer me to this dress, I didn't pick it out for myself to try but she insisted that I try it and it was her favorite. Thank you for your honest feedback.

I have to agree that I think you can do better than this dress. To be honest, it looks like a typical 'MOB/MOG' dress. and thus a bit matronly. And I feel like I've seen those fabric layers on a lot of occasion dresses in the last couple of years so it doesn't look "fresh."

Giggles are good! Thanks Susie-I haven't been to many special occasions of late maybe that's part of the problem, out of practice! I DO NOT want to look matronly!
