Can you believe we're headed for the one-month mark already? Taylor, are you going to make it??

No major shopping qualms here. I actually found myself sitting and reading a book yesterday afternoon, something I haven't done in ages. Part of it is that my boys are getting older and don't need me as much (sniff!) and the other part? More downtime thanks to my new policy of mall avoidance

Last night I saw Eat Pray Love and posted my outfit too - http://www.writing4dummies.blogspot.com.

I am SO glad I bought those GAP jeggings before SYC - they are already getting loads of wear.

Have you noticed any changes in how you use your time? Does someone want to issue a challenge this week?

What a fun movie theater! Even if the movie was no good, you had the old fashioned theater experience. I'm actually knitting a sweater inspired by one worn by Julia Roberts in that movie.
I went and returned my impractical high shoes and low rise pants this weekend, and tried some practical jeans on at BR. They didn't have the size that I needed, so I am going to order them when the credit comes back to my card (which is usually pretty quick for Macy's). They are starting to sell out sizes, though- I hope they still have them when I am ready to order!
I will post a challenge in a minute- as soon as I think of something!

tj maxx...wanted to browse the swim suits to figure out sizing. got distracted by shoes and athletic socks of all things!

forced myself to return the stuff to the shelves and hightailed it out of there for a consolation ice cream.

i did return a bunch of stuff from nas, thinking..."i could knit that."

Laura - your outfit was very pretty. You inspire me with the jeggings. And, actually, with the SYC challenge too. It makes me look at the clothes I already own in a different light.
Thank you for the review of the movie. Sounds very disappointing. I won't waste my money - or time - on that.

I think I will still need to go see the movie as my sister has been bugging me. I DO like Julia Roberts; and I was impressed seeing Xavier B on Jay Leno last week because he was articulate, funny, and verbally clean!

I have returned a few more NAS items myself - trying to keep the newness limited to the very best of the lot. Less confusing in my closet, more wear for the keepers, more $$ off the card, and I feel better

How is the bagging/stretching on the Gap leggings? You got black, right? I heard the sizing is wildly different in the diferent washes, so maybe the stretching is too. . . ?

Just a quick "two thumbs up" to all the SYCers since I have been enjoying all the related threads/outfits. Woo hoo, can't believe you all are hitting that 1 month mark soon!

While I'm not participating in the challenge, I have had to keep shopping down to a very dull roar the last year, so it's helpful to read about your restraint!

MNSara - the jeggings have not bagged out at all. Actually until you asked I hadn't even thought of it, that's how little they stretched out. I also heard from a store clerk that sizing was really different in the various washes, but I have the dark black and the dark rinse both in the same size and they seem pretty similar. If anything I would say the black stretches less, but it's not really noticeable.

Woo hoo to the one-month mark is right! Only four more months to go

I've stuck with this challenge so far - only a few days of getting itchy. I almost stopped by a couple of thrift stores (does that count?) but didn't because of time factors.

I may succumb anyway, however; I was at Target w/ DH looking for jeans for him and saw that the skirt I bought last month is now back in the size that would fit me best, so I might return/exchange. And there was a cute dress in the same fabrication and some other things that caught my eye. I am getting the 'start to dress for fall' bug in a big way.

I'm still getting a bit of a shopping fix in as I have been trying to finalize a boot selection and a couple other items that I had listed in my list of "stipulations" That and the fact that summer has finally arrived is keeping me from itching to go shop the new fall stuff. I have some summer tops that have maybe only been worn a few time all season. I'm seeing how when I have more of an item than I really need some really cute things get neglected.

It is interesting to have to go to the store and truly have to stick with the one item that is on my list. It is so easy to get distracted by everything else on the racks. I'm seeing how so many of my purchases are made simply because I fall in love with the item rather than the fact that it fills a need. I realized that I can always find something I like, but it isn't always the thing that my wardrobe is missing at the moment.

one unexpected fallout...i've used shopping as a reward for a job well done at work. without this carrot, motivation seems to have completely deserted me.

need another substitute...please do not suggest cake (as crumbs rain down on the key board).

Queenie, that is an interesting revelation! I always think of Angie shopping that way, very intentionally, with a list in her head ... even when it takes her two years to find something. I have no idea how she remembers things for that long!

That said, I am guessing that she keeps an open mind in case something amazing pops out at her.

Congratulations on the 3 week mark. I don't do this challenge as I just came out of one (I had no clothing shopping from January until late May) and my wardrobe really needs building up with basics....but I am cheering for you!!!

Truthfully, I am surprised you made it this long, Kramer. You had the hardest row of anyone to hoe -- working in retail means you are constantly barraged with the new and exciting clothes. Not easy to resist at all!

Taylor is Kramer ... oh Taylor you did the best you could in the face of extreme temptation But those boots are SO you. Although I have to say I would have expected Ann Taylor, not Marc Fisher, to put you over the edge.
