Guess it's my turn to be the forum hog today

Of all things, I walked by a full lenght mirror at a department store today (didn't buy any clothes! Pinky swear). And had to take advantage of course.

This is my take on the infamous and myhtical COLOUMN OF COLOR. Some different textures thrown in for good measure. I give my self B+ for effort. F on polish....

What a warm, yummy shade on you! I admire your ability to step into a store and not buy. I've had to stop browsing entirely - if I look I know I will find SOMETHING I want (and definitely don't need!)

I really like your column of warm tones and textures. Lovely peacoat with the gold buttons echoing the shine of your boots.

Fun way to do column of color. I like how the white stripe on your pants goes to the darker colored elastic on your caramel boots. Proportionally speaking I kinda wish the length of the top under the sweater was just a smidge shorter - to showcase more of the fab pants and the white stripe ( it's all works either way ).

Fabulous tonal column of colour ... I love earth tones like that blended together; it's so sophisticated to my eye.

Tonal dressing is so chic to my eye, but I don't have a cohesive enough of a wardrobe to be able to pull my dream outfits together. I'm also a terrible shopper, I pick items that I find neat and interesting without any overall plan. That needs to change in the coming year! Consider me a woman with a plan!

Thanks for your comments! I was only looking for a new lipstick in this store, and wasnt tempted by any clothing. Not that hard atm really, when theres only SALE and last seasons clothes around. Yawn. This will get a lot harder when SS 20 comes around!

I love these shades of tan on you! Actually I think the version of the outfit with the peacoat looks really lovely and polished. Like slim cat says I think the top underneath the sweater is throwing things off to my eye.

I do like the tonality indeed. I feel a long bold necklace and you could really be working it in a Madonna-esque fashion.

Those shades of beige look great on you! I would do slimmer pants with that layering top but it's a minor suggestion ;).

Thanks for the thoughts on this outfit. I see that the long and narrow layering top (me thrifting again) is off. I chose it purely for the colour. I don't seem to choose shapes well. Will have to work on this:-)

You are great at columns of color, and this butterscotch mix is yummy on you.

I’m of two minds on the long top. Something looser would work, as others have mentioned. But my mind also goes in a direction similar to what RL said—you could add funky accessories to take it a step wilder. I’m thinking maybe chunky wood.
