Well, despite having a patch of sun today, we've been stuck in some pretty intense morning downpours and chilly mornings in Seattle in the past few weeks, and I'm bundling up. I find my color preferences have shifted a bit too, at least depending on the day. Some mornings I'm grabbing my emeralds, peacocks, and spices oranges; other days, I'm gravitating towards black, burgundy, and gray, inspired by the earthy, leafy shades I see from our balcony.
A sample:
#1: Short cowl-neck sweater dress with dove gray, black, and brown stripes; brown lacy tights; owl pendant necklace; leopard print low-heeled pumps
#2: Emerald sunray pleat skirt; peacock blue boatneck sweater; turquoise and carnelian pendant necklace; pewter low-heeled loafers
#3: Black button-neck turtleneck sweater gray pencil skirt; black tights; burgundy patent pumps; black, white, and copper plaid scarf. (I wore this today for a delicious homemade brunch with my family.)
#4: Teal lace pencil skirt; peacock blue sweater; gold and turquoise brooch (a Secret Santa gift from Louise a couple years ago - I still love to wear it!); chocolate brown hose; burgundy patent pumps
#5: Emerald sunray pleat skirt, indigo V-neck sweater, the same pendant necklace as in #2; leopard print pumps. (This was my Thanksgiving outfit; B. and I joined his family for dinner.)
As much as I love my bright colors, sometimes wearing darker neutrals (using burgundy as a neutral shade) and creating my visual interest with texture and pattern instead of bright and wacky colors just feels right.
