Super Short! Inspired by Suz's dress try-on

How's your weekend going, ladies? Mine's been great so far....went swimming today, bought new varieties for my latest obsession - succulent gardening...and cooked dinner for friends.

When I saw Suz's post about trying on dresses to prove that everything seems to be TOO SHORT, I found myself thinking ---- those look like my tunics! I really love a good tunic. It's my FFBO with leggings for both Spring & Fall. And I also love to wear leggings & tunic on flights/car/train journeys. Far more comfortable than jeans, IMO.

This is NOT a dress. I haven't come across dresses that are sufficiently short enough on me to pull off with sneakers. (I'm only 5'3") I find longer dresses look a bit frumpy when worn with sneakers, which is why I've been wearing short skirts a lot.

Today, I wore this tunic with my black slip on sneakers to have a super casual dinner with friends at home. I told myself - "It almost looks like a shift dress". The shoes are a work horse....I'm glad they are holding up so well. I chose them because I could slip them off when needed, but like to have comfy footwear on when I'm on my feet cooking, plus I did walk the dogs post dinner in the outfit. Comfy enough for a hot summer night.

I love this length too! And I think short but roomy offsets any hoochy factor - this looks sporty cool to me. You are the queen of sneaker looks!

Super cute and current looking! If you are petite, it makes sense that some tunics will work as dresses! Way to think outside the box--or tag, I should say.

Thanks Angie! I lurve it when I hear 'Leggy' It makes me feel like I'm a supermodel with mile-long legs (that's the image that comes to mind when I hear 'leggy') Oh yes....I wait for Emma to sleep before I can click any pictures!

Thanks Una. I think so too...short yet roomy is winning me over (btw oversized tee are also a fav this summer...even though others might be heading into a more 'tailored' direction) I may start wearing tunics as dresses! And why not....get more mileage out of them ;D

It's one advantage of being petite! 5'2" here so tunics as short dresses work for me too.

I know what you mean, Una. Here in India, we don't get ANYTHING in petite/regular/tall sizes. It's all ONE size. So we shorties are stuck with jeans that are always too long! And dresses too!

Looks great. I call this a tennis dress for some reason... I don't think Maria Sharapova has ever worn such a dress to actually play tho. I'm jealous. I look like I'm in a hospital gown when I wear them.

Rachy - you make me laugh! But I sooo get that! I think a dress like this 'does' require one to have sizeable boobs so it can 'fall' just right (Just had a laughing fit typing 'sizable boobs'. Woke Emma up! )

I think it's all in the styling, the occasion, and the comfort level. And you rock the look!!

I have a couple of super short sporty casual dresses like this, too, and I am fine with them -- the ones in Winner's were a different cut, though, and made of silk, and even shorter.

Interesting about sizes. I always find things fit me much better in India because there are more women my height, but maybe that's only Indian clothes - I never shop for Western wear there. FabIndia!

Great look. I don't think it is too short. I like dresses a few inches above the knee. And I am 5'7.5". I find it is more flattering. Makes for a more leggy look.

Super cute! I think you're on to something with short dresses and sneakers. Maybe that's why they always look frumpy when I try it. I'll have to try it again this summer with something shorter.
