Summer Shorts - 4 Versions of my usual Summer "Uniform"

I haven't had much time to take pics or post lately so I thought I'd do a "catch up" of shorts. Shorts are my daily "uniform" for July/August. Here are several versions I've worn a lot over the past several weeks.

Feedback always welcome. I've been using my Python bag during this series as I wanted to add a bit of pattern/interest to my outfits and I don't like swapping out my handbag very often. This one has been a workhorse for a year now. I only took one pic with it but it went well with all of the outfits shown.

Pic 3 - Linen button down from Jjill (wanted the jcrew "flax" one but never could find it so I settled for second best). I did a side shot too to show the semi-tuck I often do with button downs - a hi-lo effect.

Jj - so glad you like the belt. I really love it and find it to be very useful to add interest to simple outfits. I think I will wear it through the fall/winter as well.

pil- I love an understated color palette and I also feel that somehow it is more "glamorous" that way - even with shorts.

You have stunning legs. Any kind of shorts outfits you wear are going to look great on you because of your toned, long and shapely legs. My favorite is the linen shirt outfit, pictures 3 and 4.

Isis, Firecracker - thank you both. And CocoLion , you're making me blush. I'm glad you liked the linen shirt outfit - bare feet and all - it's a little inspired by some of your great shorts outfits I must say. But you always have fantastic shoes. I'm still working on that.

These are all fab! I especially love 2 and 3. the ruffled shirt is kind of fun and unexpected. The linen shirt just looks relaxed and stylish. You wear shorts so well!

CocoLion's right - you have such great legs that you can make any shorts outfit shine. But I love the subtle details here. The cuff, the python belt, the bag, even the detailing on the tops that might sound like a lot going on, but in the outfit is just enough going on to make it shine with only a few simple pieces. I love all of these. #2 and #4 are my faves.

I love the linen shirt outfit the most -- you do have excellent legs.

I love seeing shorts outfits since that's my summer uniform too and I like to get inspiration from others. The belts really complete each outfit and make you look so pulled together.

It's been so nice getting so much positive feedback on these shorts outfits. Thank you all! I guess it helps to post them during the dog days of summer and after Angie's shorts post.

I didn't expect so many to like the linen top as I felt I had settled for second best in terms of fit because after searching for months I just couldn't find what I wanted in stock. I prefer a slightly more tailored button down, but in this case the smaller size seemed like it would be tight in the armholes.

I agree with those who said that often it's the belts and one or two pieces of jewelry that can make or break a simple outfit of shorts and a top. I think it's true of a simple top and jeans too. I've been spending more time and effort on choosing jewelry and accessories in general and trying to really think about color tones, styles, etc. that would pull things together. That was one of my goals for this summer and it's been fun and more affordable than buying too many new tops.

I know the shoes are important too and I'm still working on that part. I did get the metallic sandals shown just recently and though I couldn't walk for miles in them, they are comfortable enough and great for most of my everyday activities. I think I'm going to try a pair of Danskos sandals that have a heel but have been reported to be very comfortable as well.

The two pair of nearly flat sandals I bought earlier this year have not been worn much I have to admit. One was the blue suede look and the other a red Munro. The blue ones are just a bit too hard on the feet and the red seem to be "loud" for my usual outfit. I think I just have to get adjusted to the red and I will wear those more but I've learned that flat sandals are just not the most comfortable shoe for me.
