I’m narrowing down my summer shoe search. After editing some old, worn out sandals and some shoes that no longer suit my tastes, I have room for some new, carefully considered options.
My need is mostly for casual, easy, walkable, comfortable shoes for summer. I already bought the black studded slides — a cheap and easy replacement that I can beat up without feeling bad (they were $15 on sale). I’m also considering the Arctic sneakers and the black mules (evaluating around the house for comfort). The black mules are still a question — not terribly practical but fun. The sneakers would be an easier justification.
I’m waiting for the pink Free People flats to see if they work. Kate kindly pointed me to a site where my size was on sale, so if they work, it’s a nice bonus that I’m paying half the retail price for them.
Here are the summer metallics I’m currently considering — I could justify all three of these and still have room in my closet and budget.
1-4 Sam Edelman mules — I think I would prefer to get these in silver if I can find my size (they are available a half size down and I’m going to try them), but I do like the rose gold. I was thinking that I like these better than the Jeffrey Campbell mules I posted last week (pics 13-14) because they are a bit more supportive (yet not really more comfortable, the JC’s are really comfortable for me), but in photos I’m not so sure — in the photos I like the JC’s a bit more . What do you think?
5-8 Gentle Souls platform sandals. Sooooo comfortable! The platform adds a bit of sporty edge. I didn’t want to take them off. I think these will be really great with shorts.
9-12 Ancient Greek Sandals slides. Pricey for what they are, but I’ve tried a few mixed metal sandals because I love the look and the versatility, and no others appeal to me as much as these. They’re simple yet interesting and not so trendy that they’ll look passé next year.
I tried the Dolce Vita mules (the lookalike to Angie’s Naturalizers) that come in silver or rose gold, but they were not comfortable at all.
